Nothing like as serious. She kicked out a badly performing civil servant. No breach of the ministerial code and when the civil service union applied for a judicial review to challenge this, it failed.

Former Morton player and manager Allan McGraw has died at the age of 83.

McGraw started and finished his playing career with the Greenock club, scoring more than 100 league goals in the 1960s and helping them win the second tier in 1964.

He also featured for Hibernian, Toronto City and Linfield.

As a manager over 12 years at Cappielow, McGraw led Morton to promotion to the top flight in 1987 and back to the second tier in 1995.

"Everyone at Greenock Morton is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of club legend, Allan McGraw," the club said.

    And an international legend...RIP

Just Fontaine: Former France striker and World Cup record holder dies aged 89

Just Fontaine, who holds the record for the most goals scored at a single World Cup, has died at the age of 89.

Fontaine scored 13 goals in just six matches for France at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden as they finished third.

He is joint-fourth on the all-time World Cup goalscorers list alongside Argentina's Lionel Messi.

"A star of French football, an outstanding striker, a legendary Reims player," said his former club Stade de Reims.

Another of his former clubs, Paris St-Germain, said: "A thought for Just Fontaine. An icon of French football who has left us."

The French Football Federation (FFF) described Fontaine as "the eternal goalscorer" and "a legend of world football".

"The death of Just Fontaine plunges French football into deep emotion and immense sadness," said FFF interim president Philippe Diallo.

RIP Steve Mackey, Bass player for Pulp. Seen them a few times, always great. They are on a revival tour this summer, doing the festival circuit.... going to be a difficult one. Just heard John McClure of Reverand and the Makers on 6Music talking about him....great story, The Leadenhall in Sheffield used to host loads of gigs, and it was right next to the bus station and so let bus drivers in for free at the end of their shifts. Steve Mackey and Jarvis Cocker went out and procured themselves bus driver uniforms and got in for free every night for months <laugh> Rock'n'roll baby!

    RIP <rose>

Pulp bassist Steve Mackey has died at the age of 56, his family has confirmed.

The Sheffield musician played on hits including Common People, Disco 2000 and Lipgloss, after joining Pulp in 1989.

His wife Katie posted a message to social media on Thursday, saying he had been in hospital for the past three months with an undisclosed illness.

"We are shocked and devastated to have said goodbye to my brilliant, beautiful husband," she added.

"Steve was the most talented man I knew, an exceptional musician, producer, photographer and filmmaker.

"As in life, he was adored by everyone whose paths he crossed in the multiple creative disciplines he conquered.

"I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the NHS staff who worked tirelessly for Steve. He will be missed beyond words."

    RIP.

That’s a bastard, very young. It was he and Jarvis who encouraged one of my personal favourites, Richard Hawley, to get in the studio and record some of his own stuff 25 years ago.

The Sheffield music mafia look out for each other. My wife is at a show at the National Theatre tonight called Standing at the Sky’s Edge, all about Sheffield, with her mates from Uni - they went to Sheff, many years ago. I declined the chance to go, then too late found out that it’s a very highly rated musical - with songs (recycled and new) by Richard Hawley…..

Apparently he had already said he wasn’t going to tour this summer, and he had been in hospital for three months……grim.

Also didn’t know he was at school with Richard Hawley. My wife says the show is stunning, texted me in the interval , just to ensure I know what I’m missing….
