I think Agard is a right winger, though he's scored 20 goals from that position.

Agard can play both winger and as a striker

    OP Updated <ok>

On Agard, 20 goals from the right wing doesn't sound bad. It'll be the classic "can he make the step up" debate though

    TBH

Matt Smith and Murphy have stepped up well this season and will only get better next so if they are anything to go by then Agard could be good

Keith Treacy has been released by Burnley I think he could do a job on the left wing for us still, whether as a permanent starter or squad player, good deliveries for Smith too.

    A squad player?
Never really understood that word,i.e. Not good enoungh for the first team but could fit in if need be?
Feck that we need quality, not quantity, fed up with average players on over average wages.
Rather sign 3class players than a bunch of 'squad players'.

Have you never played the game? Every team has squad player's...lad's who are old but will get a few games still, injury prone players who can only manage so much hardship, young lad's to bring through gradually! Essentially they are all squad players.

What class players are out there and how will we get them?

    Injury prone players!
Young lads are the future not 'squad players'
We will get decent players by,
    A, buying them.
B,producing them from our youth set up,
    C,our(non exixtent) scouting net work.

Yep, Mick Bridges would be an example of injury plagued player who could manage a few games here and there. Michael Owen, RVP etc you don't have to be old to be injury prone.

I agree young player's are the way forward but getting young English player's for the right price is like gold dust. Look at Henderson and Carroll as example of how massive their fees were.

I also would try get as much youth players in as possible but they need some experience around them. You'll win nowt with kids :bandit:

    Anyway goodnight este :emoticon-0148-yes:

I'd take Treacy, only if wages were small but he is better than what we have currently imo.

Also bearing in mind I'd imagine we'll be releasing all of the players out of contract which totals to 9 from memory as well as Butland and Kebe leaving the squad and maybe selling players like Peltier and White. We'll need to sign at least 5 or 6 just for a half decent squad size, not all of these will be transfer fees so players like treacy will be worth a look at especially when what we have out wide currently is almost non-existant

Dunno how much that list would improve our first team though

<laugh> I know with the lack of first team it could seem like that but honestly signing young up and coming players is good and all but I doubt the likes of Bentley and Murphy are immediately going to prove to be great signings. Guidetti used to be good but hasn't played before stoke in god knows how long and will come with a hefty price tag imo purely because he used to be a good prospect 4 years ago. We'd be better off signing a couple leaders blended with youth and even then I'm not sold on those particular "young and hungry" players

Haven't seen any of the list play on a regular basis, certainly not enough to make a solid opinion on them, but looking at their statistics this season I would have to agree with Josh; Murphy has 7 goals in 42 games, Jennings 2 in 18 and Guidetti's played just 6 times without scoring.

As I said to begin with though, I haven't watched any of them enough to make an informed opinion on them, just saying their statistics really don't do much for me <ok>

We need to sign young and hungry players who are immediately ready for the first team. Given the financial restraints rightly imposed that means signing players from PL clubs who are surplus to requirements outside their 25 man squads, on loan with a view to buy, plus one or two from Cagliari like Ibarbo etc.
No use buying young players just to pad the squad out, we've enough of those already, the likes of Dawson, Mowatt, Taylor.
A streamlined squad of 22 players all ready for first team action.
