I think that they're in a strong position, as there'll be multiple teams pushing to sign him. They'll be tempted to cash in though, as he's got 2/3 years on his contract.
It's codeword for 'entire summer budget on one player'. United's problem, especially if they don't have CL money coming in, is that they have a huge number of players coming toward the end of their contracts and very few marketable assets in general. Their wage budget will be pretty huge with the likes of Pogba, Martial, Lingard and Cavani departing at the end of the season. But their transfer budget? Of their players on long-term contracts who aren't the wrong side of 30, Fernandes and Sancho aren't going anywhere, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly and McTominay aren't very good, Varane has injury problems and Henderson is probably taking over from De Gea. Which leaves Mason Greenwood The mess there will take years to solve. If they put all their eggs in a Rice basket, it'll solve one area but do nothing for the situation at RB, AM, ST and CB.
He’s not a bad player but the hype over him is ridiculous. If Utd want to pay £100million for him then more fool them.
Considering the £60m figure being thrown about for Kalvin Phillips, the markup for Rice is looking particularly ridiculous
Mike "****" Dean has said that West Scam fans sent his daughter death threats and threatened to petrol bomb his house after he sent off Thomas Soucek against Fulham last season after he elbowed Alekstander Mitrovic in the face That is completely unacceptable. Petrol bomb his house by all means, but leave his family out of it
When he went down injured against Brentford they started singing, "That's how your cat feels". Then when he got taken off they were chanting, "Put him down, put him down, put him down". Shame.
Classy as usual ... And also refusing to investigate claims by Patrice Evra of homophobia at the club during Moyes previous stint in charge!
