I don’t think we are skint. Let me give you an example. Imagine I am a multi millionaire (I’m not BTW) and I have a garage full of expensive cars (but not classic or rarity value). I have 2 for hot weather, 2 for cold weather, 2 for off road. Each one is worth in excess of £150k I say to the wife, that new Ferrari convertible is out next week. I may get it. She will reply, well get rid of one of the others before you buy another. It’s not that I couldn’t afford another, it’s the reason the rich stay rich! I know this happens as I happen to know someone this happened to. So Ralph has been told he can have new, but get rid of the old before. We may not be rolling in it, but it is just sensible to do it this way.
So we find have money for players then. It's a bit like me having money to buy a 2CV but no money to put fuel, tax or insure the ****er. Its horseshit saying we have the money for the player, as you have to budget for both therefore we have not £20m to purchase a player, we have perhaps £10m and csnt improve egatttt we have with that. We are paying chunks of our loanee wages, selling them would have been slightly different. It may be we are waiting for the break even point in contracts, but maybe we're playing the long game and aren't very good at it.
I do. I think it would be reckless to keep adding to this group. We need some continuity. Two weeks ago people would be saying we need to replace JV with someone better. But he looks like someone who understands what is being asked of him. I think we'll see improvements in lots of other players as well.
No, I'm trying to suggest its a fact I think we blew the objective when we bought them, not when we failed to sell Mane, VVD etc were easy to sell Hoedt Carillo Lemina are basically impossible to sell on their current wages The mistake was made when we bought them I'm not sure if we agree on that? (Footnote: I love Laurel and Hardy, which is of more important)
I think we could sell Lemina, pretty easily. I just don’t think we were getting the money we wanted so we are holding out for more, which may be a mistake.
Was it Lemina or Wes that has an option/obligation to buy for €16m? If its Wes, that isn't so bad, I have a feeling its Lemina which is pretty low. Out of all the ones we want gone he is the best and could still play for us an improve us.
An old student chum in the 80s had one just like that, sadly he was a Chelsea fan. I was in shock after seeing the majestic engine - I've had motorcycles with bigger ones!
A design classic. Have you seen how the suspension works? It's genius. Perhaps this should go to Ralph's Rabbit Hutch for a full appreciation?
I drove my ex-wife’s 2CV enough times to appreciate that it’s like being on a motorcycle when you negotiate corners, you find yourself leaning into them! The weirdest thing, though, is the gear stick, which emerges mysteriously from behind the dashboard, or dash-shelf I should say. Finding a gear is reminiscent of stirring a pot of ragout. They are such brilliant fun though, such a shame they aren’t made any more. An all-electric version would be within the reach of anyone.
