Success on the field doesn’t necessarily mean a significant improvement on the balance sheet especially with big question marks over the lucrative business of letting 30,000 fans into the ground.
Gao couldn’t be that stupid could he? Oh ok!

I'm with you on that, it's in the rumours bin.

Not sure if this has been said elsewhere but in the fans forum Martin Semmens said the following:

"99% of what is reported in the media [about the takeover & player trading] is false" - he added that the recent takeover reports within the media are indeed false.

"We would like to eventually move to an ownership/investment model whereby we do receive some external investment - whether that be in 1 year or 2, but it won't happen this season."

Adam Blackmore also said that in his experience of reporting on takeovers, those that occur in the public eye are often bids from those with the least amount of money to actually buy the club - Martin agreed with this comment.

Basic takeaway is that DeGrosa will not be buying the club and nor will anybody else in the immediate future. We will likely/hopefully get additional investment over the next couple of years - and this could either be a complete new owner or external investment with Kat/Gao remaining involved.

The bottom line is that the team is satisfying the criteria by winning games and entertaining under Gao and I've never worried about the business side of the club as long as the team is not suffering. It ain't broke at the moment so change is not urgent and the board are running the club better now since Reed and Hunter got booted out presumably on the orders of Gao.
I expect that there will be a change of ownership in the next few years but I hope it's not a quick sale to any old bidder.
