A sad day for the east side should the dockers close .Theres not many socail Clubs left now and the ones who are open are really struggling. I remember Llansamlet social Club when it was two tier building and bouncing most nights , now a shadow of its former self
Sorry double post....posted on wrong thread initially.... https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/man-behind-cult-sweary-welsh-17439355
I used to work in the Landore Social Club back in my teenage years, collecting the glasses. Had a great year doing this. Go in Saturday mornings to stick the shelves, pick up my wages for the week before, grab two Lewis pasties then catch the bus into town to watch the Swans when at home. Then back in Saturday night to collect band wash up glasses, then do the same on the Sunday stick shelves then back for the night. Girls serving would be good as gold and a few half of lagers were put on the side for me. Christmas was a good earner, worked a Boxing Day this was a men only event. The one girl was in the concert room in the corner bar and I was collecting glasses, and sticking the shelves. Needless to say we earned a packet in tips, it was a bit embarrassing at times walking past the stage to turn round and see a full snatch nearly in your face. Happy days.
So why are we wasting so much money on sh_ite in the city?.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-wales-50951801
The money being spend onto try to improve the appearance and facilities is coming from Government funding not our poll taxes/rates /community charge
Remember going to the Coach House in my youth. Most vivid memory was going to watch Bomber there, great nights had watching them. Had great Wednesday nights at The Dublin with some good bands playing there.
What ever happened to Landarcy village , another pipe dream https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/...S10QCgnjEJkiu1YfUZZmALV_Qt2wElFfNi3ZNBosDpsfQ
Thoughts? (Was there a cinema close to there in the 70s as I distinctly remember mom n dad taking me to it then climbing on the castle walls?)
