I sincerely hope so mate. It wouldn't cost very much to get us back where we belong, which is in the top flight of Women's Football. Can only be good for the club as a whole in the long run. We've been surpassed by Durham these last 3 years and we need to regain our top spot in the North East. If we climbed the leagues, I'm confident that some of the really good players we have lost would return. We've got a great coach in place. She just needs backing. It was a real shame that we were **** on again by the FA last season. We should have been promoted, we were so far ahead of the rest. As a result, we lost our best defender, midfielder and striker.
KLD will be bigger for us than what Keegan was for the mags. Get the stadium owa 60K and make a big statement to everybody. The fans will flock to the SOL and see this new era as the new beginning and want to be part of it. That decision should be taken when we can buy new season cards and we get around 30K sold cos it's gonna happen. Trust me
I'm sorry, but Madame Dreyfus only goes for quality Gentlemen like myself, so you two peasants will have to go and 'do one'.
Sunderland Ladies were **** on by the FA right at the start of the WSL. The club that produced half the England women's World Cup squad wasn't allowed into either of the top 2 divisions, yet newly the created Manchester United women's were automatically put in. A lot of blame goes to Baroness Sue Campbell, who wants most clubs to be like American Collegiate team set ups, apart from the mega rich ones like Man City and Man U, of course.
I know mate. We got demoted two divisions. Doncaster Belles, another stalwart of Ladies Football got the boot whilst Yeovil who finished bottom by a street, were allowed to remain. Talk about a North-South divide. All so clubs like Man Utd and West Ham could be accommodated. ****ing criminal.
Spot on Gordon, behind the goal in south stand, we had a sliding wall to accommodate toilets, bars and food outlets for the different numbers of tickets allocated to the way team. I believe the smallest number we could set the wall for was 1800. It was ****e to see all of those empty seats behind the goal when the away team brought a handful up, it did nothing for the atmosphere and was always commented on when we were on Sky etc.
The ladies team is almost certain to be one of the items RAWA look to discuss. The meeting will likely be fairly high level, not loads of detail, but there's a lot of discussion about the ladies team and a feeling that it should be brought up early, so I fully expect it to be on the agenda
GG, can we get the U23's home games streamed by the club? We can see most of the away games because other clubs have a streaming service.
Would be great if they could arrange it so the lasses played as a curtain raiser to the 1st team match. Some people would attend earlier to watch both meaning increased revenue and a full day out for families
I'll be honest I think that would be hard. For a start as wtdog says it would be a lot of strain on the pitch. Then you've got the issue that people might just want the ticket for the lasses game , but how do you go about getting them to leave before the mens one? Unless you did it purely as a combined ticket but that would be unfair on people who might always watch the lasses but not want to watch every one of the mens games. Good idea in theory but I'm not sure how workable it would be. And for all I'm fully behind supporting the lasses team and getting them more coverage etc, we do need to remember that for the vast majority of fans the mens first team is pretty much all that matters. I wouldn't want them playing on a slightly worse pitch just to accommodate the lasses teams games tbh .
For the lasses they could play their games shortly after ours, like used to happen at 'Sheels when our lasses played there. That way the vast majority (almost everyone) would be gone and there wouldn't be a problem with seat allocation
That's a great idea mate, but possibly after the main event, in case the pitch cuts up. They could open the bars at full time to allow people to drink while they watch the lasses play.
You could allocate a section where the away fans are for people who just want to come in to watch the Lasses. The away fans are hardly gonna want to stay and watch them. Clear the away fans out and let the Lasses fans in. Those who want to watch both could get Lasses games added to their season card contribution, and they just stay in their seats. More would stay on if the bars were open, and this would generate more revenue.
