Liverpool cost cut for years by promoting within, it didn’t harm them. And no I’m not even slightly suggesting we gonna start ruling the league and Europe for years before I get jumped on.
"Sunlun Fan @rokerroarontour Replying to @JHunterChron Strange move. Almost looks cost cutting measure and got to feel for the lads who have been booted. Not as if its AN getting his own staff around him. Stinks of Speakshit wanting to give his mate Dodds a more influential role. You know Dodds. The bloke who nearly killed season." Thank f**k I don't ever have to spend any time with miseries like these people. In any organisation you can't just bypass existing staff because it demoralisines them. And better the devil you know etc There comes a point when you have to trust the chairman, manager and.club ... .... there'll always be something to moan about, doesn't mean you have to.
Certainly not, and as @Jarca has pointed out l may well have made a mistake including you with my original post. If that is correct, please except my apologies for the mistake.
Everyone has a moan from time to time but I generally find you're happier if you get your moan out the way and then just get on with it. I think some people aren't happy unless they can find something about SAFC to pick holes in. I don't know why anyone would want to do that when everything looks so positive at the moment.
It's become so automatic we're just starting to get a reputation for it. Every new player is condemned after one game. I was called out at Wimbledon for applauding the team at the end. Two lads were absolutely screaming at Pritchard and he looked really shocked and puzzled. Neil had only just arrived and it was obvious the players were trying to fit into a new system..
That's not my point though. No I don't want us throwing money around and I am not saying its a bad thing. I would much rather us be smarter with money. Kyril is right to take this approach. If we were cutting costs by selling academy players would you have the same view? This was how Donald and Methven ran the show and they were given pelters. If the same applied to these coaches then I am sure many wouldn't be happy given their involvement in achieving promotion. I am sure that's not the case here though. It might be that they are looking to move on or don't fancy the role anymore. If the idea is to promote staff and Alex Neil wants that then it's all good.
The club need to have a pathway for the coaches as well as players to progress here. I'm sure AN would have been consulted and must be happy with these appointments. It will be interesting to see who takes their place in the U23 setup.
I definitely dont think its cost cutting, but it is something of a surprise. I'm all for promotion from within, but that usually happens when people leave organically or go to other clubs. Its unusual to remove two coaches fairly unexpectedly to promote. Also its not like Prudhoe is a young up and coming coach. Got to assume that Neil or Speakman didn't agree with the way Preece was doing things and preferred what Prudhoe does.
We have good quality, existing and new, players signing who must be happy with the club ... ... if so e fans aren't I can live with it tbh.
Promotiom from within is exactly how we should be doing things. Anyone remember the bootroom? A proper football club has every age group in the club coaching and playing the same way. We want u23s to make the first team, why dont we want the u23 coaches to move up? Mind boggling to think this is cost cutting. For me it is a very clever move that will help cement the pathway from u23s to first team. Hopefully u18s move to u23s...
I suppose after years of let downs it is understandable to some extent. I think there's a difference between not being surprised when things go tits up and putting the boot in before anyone's had a chance to prove anything though. Either way, I think there's been a big shift in the club and we should be shedding the negativity.
