Telling a referee directly to **** off is a red card offence. It's not the swearing, it's that it's aimed directly at the referee. FYI, I haven't had anyone swear directly at me for the last 2 seasons.
I’m gutted Tom has missed my “back chat”... which only leaves me the option of saying, “Typical referee - he’s blind.”
I like the adoption of a 10-15 sec rule. the FA must guard against the sport becoming a circus though......i can imagine the crowd countdown....
.....and perhaps in local football someone can volunteer each time to record events on their phone ....what could go wrong...!
There’ll be no count down. No public notification. Just a bloke connected to the referee by mic. No circus.
Just seen discussion about VAR on Sky...some slight reassurances (will put emphasis on real time...unlike some European leagues...something to look out for in competitions), but their insistence on off sides to a millimetre still concerning....accurate yes, but there will be so many decisions overturned on a hairsbreadth that no one will dare celebrate any goal. The main fun will be jeering at the opposition when their goal is disallowed.
Of course there is also the double celebration. We celebrate. The goal is questioned. It's OK. We celebrate again. The benefits of VAR. 2 for the price of 1.
Yeah, that's not how it feels. It's more like 'Yeeeassss- oh wait' *stand around for ****ing ages* 'Oh well the moment has kind of gone now.'
Well, hopefully they will improve on that. Of course, if the opposition score, and the goal is questioned. And you wait around for ages while the goal is fairly ruled out, you won't be complaining.
I think you will find I most certainly will. Of course ffs... nice assumption And how will it get better? That aspect isn't something that can or will get better, it's a fundemental change which completely changes the atmosphere/celebrations in the event of a goal. Even at the CS last week you could hear the little 'reyyy' when the Scouser equalised. We'll have clapping and countdowns soon.
You see all the disadvantages. I see plenty of the upside. The right decision is ultimately what I'm interested in. If that takes a season or two to settle down, then so be it. Eventually we'll have AI determining whether a player is offside or not anyway, and that decision will be made so fast you won't even notice it was done.
Yes I do see all of the disadvantages and I feel I can always put them across pretty while always agreeing that will undoubtedly get some more things right. My view has always been that any 'upside' will be negated by the hugely negative impact on the game as a live spectacle. It's you that never seems to argue any of these points and instead just seems intent on telling me what I think.
Fair enough. I won't argue the points that to me are outdated. VAR will undoubtedly get better and in a couple of seasons we'll wonder why we had this exchange. But please do remember what you said, and we'll see how it's going in say 2-3 seasons.
Outtdated, what a cop out Why wouldn't I remember? You forgot to address the bit about telling me what I think btw. I doubt I'll ever get used to it cos it's complete ****ing dogshit.
