I If I may assist: all of the ball has to be over the line. In this case the ball curvature was adjudged to be on the line and hence in play.
Again, the wording is problematical - "adjudged" is subjective. Another ref might easily say it wasn't. The way it's going with technology being increasingly used to make decisions rather than simplify rules, we'll likely end up watching video games rather than have humans playing each other.
Gary Lineker stuck his head out a bit at HT in the Ghana/Portugal game - saying that England should rest Kyle Walker against Senegal as he's the only full back in the world who can handle Mbappe and shouldn't risk injury by playing against Senegal. I hope Sarr gets a hat trick just to rub his nose in it.
If he is up against Trent Always Average he might have a field day Down side is we wouldn't have him back early enough for the restart of the season Up side is that as long as he gets regular games for Watford he will always start for Senegal so he is happy with us EDIT Jug Ears is a self opinionated knobhead to everyone else apart from head of BBC Sport, Shearer just has a little wry smile every time remakes an idiot of himself
England with the best record of those going through if Brazil don’t win ? I doubt Southgate will allow the team to be complacent tbh . Ha Cameroon score!
Great goal for Cameroon to put them in front against Brazil - but what a twat the scorer is, taking his shirt off to celebrate and picking up a second yellow...
Adjudge is what the officials do all the time, it is not part of this specific law. At the end of the day not all of the ball was over all of the line.
Reminds me of that acronym Keep It Simple Stupid Football is becoming more and more complicated and nuanced in little details
It must make these on pitch officials feel a bit awkward and less confident in themselves having to get called over to the scream basically because they have been told something is wrong. Might be human nature to side with 4 blokes or ladies telling them where they've made an error in their eyes. We've seen some strange penalty decisions and apparently FIFA said the Messi "foul" v Poland was the right call somehow.
That's the thing. It's been reduced to absolute miniscule proportions and it's killing the game for a lot of people.
Far too many contentious decisions being made using a technology specifically designed to make them clear and less contentious - a total waste of time and money imo. Especially when you consider that the technology is only available to the top levels - everyone below those lacks the dubious 'benefit', but see and copy the poor behaviours it causes at the top levels. I can't remember which game it was, but the sight of one side's subs surrounding & haranguing the match officials over one such contentious decision as they trooped off at the end of a game absolutely sickened me.
Wouldn't mind a repeat of goal number two tonight - scored by Charlie Yankos when Australia beat Argentina 4-1.
Shame for the Aussies that keeper error proved so costly but guess their goal was fortunate too . And a great chance at the end too. Messi showed his class at times .
That was no deflection - it was a wicked curve. The young lad Kuol was unlucky at the end - if only he had shown a bit more composure... He's transferring to Newcastle in January - I do wonder how much first team action he'll see there though.
Little dig about our management record from the commentary team during the France v Poland game . Poland have had 4 managers in 4 years apparently - but 2 of those actually resigned out of choice . Not sacked .
Clinical from England after dodgy twenty in the middle of the half. Brilliant Bellingham, . Fantastic Foden. Klinikal Kane.
