Despite all the doom and gloom lets have a look at a few positives from the first 8 games of the season. Rivals - Were 3 points ahead of Spurs & Arsenal and 2 above United (although they have a game in hand) Currently level on points with 4th place which is WHU who (no disrespect you don't expect to finish that high, the same as Southampton in 3rd) It's becoming a 2 horse race which means it's 4 teams fighting for the last 2 and at the moment, we're top of that next group. Performances - We've not been great but we're winning games when playing poorly. We have performed well in spells, most notably the game v Spurs. We're winning games despite missing our most vital forward in Sturridge. How would Chelsea cope without Costa for the last 5 games, Arsenal without Sanchez, Everton without Lukaku, Spurs without... well Spurs don't really count We've already played 3 of the top 4 in City and Saints & WHU We're still in the League Cup and have a winnable home game next. Overall, yes it's not been a brilliant start especially when comparing to last year, but 5th, above our rivals for Champ League with injured players to come back into the team. Things could be a lot worse..
The only positive that I can see right now is that we're by no means out of it (top 4), despite how poorly we've played. Somehow, we're getting points and are in the mix and ahead of our pre-season predicted rivals. All the 'points off the top' that the media claim is largely irrelevant as it was always going to be City and Chavski anyway and we only really expected to be challenging for top 4 again. I guess we can only improve?
We are always slow starters in the league. So a positive is that we can only get better and may even strengthen in January. We really need to throw the league cup to u21 players as we have a real job on competing in the CL and prem. Also I saw balotelli make a run today on to a through ball by sterling. Progress?? Lol
the only positive is that our rivals have been playing as badly as us (not including Chelsea and City there). We are still in it for a top 4 finish along with a few other sides. If we were playing this badly with a fully fit squad I would be worried. Balotelli is still crap though.
We've scored in every premier league game Bar Villa to show that we still create and score. It really is our back four which really needs to sort it out. Lovren is terrible, got battered by Zamora which to me is criminal. Balotelli looks like a man who's got zero confidence which isn't great as he's a confidence player. Sturridge should be back soon so that should help us also. We've been **** but still in contention for top four, can't complain really.
Positives; - we won - we're in touch with top four - we can only get better - we have a lot of young players that will be getting valuable experiencing from this season - we have CL footy (take note wums)
A positive is that you look vulnerable enough at the back for us to take something from Anfield and Balotelli looks completely disinterested up front. Obviously from a Hull perspective...
More positives: UiR and Tobes got mugged off. 3 times. Can is back from injury and getting game time, which is a timeline that leads to Gerrard and Lucas no longer starting.
