The Libertines are sponsoring Margate FC. How much better is that than yet another ****ing betting company? I thought nutty Pete was an Rs* fan.

    * in a first the spellcheck on this machine replaced Rs with ‘arse’. Excellent. Second choice was Arsenal.

That's brilliant and they have kind of hoops on their shirts, perhaps we should adopt them as our 2nd team.....

Saw this on Twitter - think they are going to sell a shedload of shirts and have a pile of new fans looking at the replies to the tweet...

I think that's a classy thing to do by the Libertines.

My favourite band is Interpol - I think shirts with their moniker on would cause too many raised eyebrows.

One of The White Lies is an R (the drummer, I think) - how about an allusion to mild porkies on our tops?

They should have sponsored us, it's certainly worked for Margate...

Got home from walking the dog in the drizzle to a familiar tune coming from the telly and my wife shouting ‘****ing hell its bloody Match of the Day again!’.
Excellent, back in the old routine.

Great listening to the West Ham fans the other day thinking they’ll be top four. Hope they get relegated.

Be nice if Arsenal could win today so the PL doesn’t feel like a victory parade for Citeh from day one.

This is just amazing from Rooney. It's 2-2 in the 96th minute and the goalie's gone up for a corner, which is cleared. The opposition striker is closing in on an empty net...…..

I think that's the greatest thing I've seen him do, pure quality given the stage in the match too. Can't decide between that and his overhead kick v City or his debut goal for Everton v Arsenal.

The DC club should have the build up to that goal emblazoned on the walls of the dressing room. Brilliant, never-give-up piece of football.

That overhead shin is the most overrated goal of all time.

Not a game, but a sad commentary of the state of the English game. An analysis of the balance sheets of clubs for the 2016-17 season found that only 2 PL teams made a loss, and that 11 of them could have made a profit without any gate receipts ie no fans. For Bournemouth non match day revenue made up 96% of their income. With prize money and with some big transfers out Leicester made £76m before gate receipts.

In contrast 18 out of 24 championship teams made a loss. All are much more reliant on gate receipts and the further down the leagues you go the more true this is. Prices for away tickets in the Championship are the highest in any league (capped at £30 in the PL).

The gap is becoming unbridgeable. Soon we will have the top two leagues divided into four de facto sections - top 6-8 in the PL, the rest of the PL fighting off relegation, the top 6-10 in the Championship who have either been relegated with loads of cash or who’s owners are gambling on promotion and chucking money at it, and the rest of the Championship just trying to survive and stay within FFP.

    ****ing Sky, BT etc
