Just chanced on Sky channel 137 “4Seven” playing the ‘Maradona’ movie. Just seen the ‘Hand of God’ incident for the umpteenth time and got angry all over again. Where the Hell was VAR?
I’ve watched every game so far. He dominated the Genk player who apparently was quite rated. The newer FIFAs seem to only work if you play like Barcelona. Virtually impossible to beat your full-back and whip a cross in for a big striker.
Yes - Playstation or Xbox or PC - not sure what platform these "professionals" use, but that's what eSports is all about
On Sky of Man Utd's Phil Jones: "He's the sort of player that will put his face where it's going to hurt. But with Phil it doesn't matter..."
Not really today, but an anniversary, but there is a great article in the Times about the Leeds v Chelsea cup final of 1970, including reminiscing from our very own Dave Webb and Ron Harris (apparently younger members of his family call him Uncle Chopper), and Mick Jones and Eddie Gray. The game hinged on Eddie Gray, who was all over Webby in the Wembley game. Webb swapped positions with Harris for the second game, and Chopper did. his stuff on Gray in the first 10 minutes. I remember the replay at Old Trafford being a memorably violent game. Forty years later Chopper spotted Eddie Gray at a golf tournament and tapped him on the shoulder before asking for his studs back. There was only one player was booked during the replay. The referee David Elleray reviewed the game in 1997 and said he would have booked 11 and sent off 6. This year ref Michael Oliver upgraded that to 11 sendings off. Mick Jones tags John Roberts centre half at Arsenal and Birmingham City, who I can’t remember at all, as the hardest player of the lot from that era. Anybody got any memories of him?
I see ITV are showing the 1987 Cup Final between Coventry and Spurs this afternoon, that was a cracking game......
I heard from an ITK tonight that the plan for completing the Premier season is to play out the games, three a day, at three separate venues - Arsenal, West Ham and Man City. Hard to see how the Championship can be completed, though.
