You're correct there Robbie, 2012 was a special case and was said so about a million times when it happened. If somewhere such as Gibraltar can have a team I don't see why the home nations can't all have their teams.

I don’t know if this is true but on TalkSport they said that Team GB didn’t qualify for the Olympics because of our performance in the Euro U21s tournament?

I think what Talk Sport was saying was that, even if the home nations had agreed to enter (which they didn't for men's football, but did for women's football), the men's team would not have qualified due to England's Euro U21s performance. Or if that wasn't what they were saying, it's what they should have been saying!
