But can it be? Because on the whole it is the extreme right which tends to attract vicious racists, so I think any anti-racist message by default will be anti-far-right politics.
We already have discrimination laws and if anyone attending a football match shouted racist words then stewards routinely remove and ban offenders . The first 50 times players took the knee I didn't really care each to their own . The policeman in America that sat on George Floyd is in prison. Are they going to kneel forever? If Italy don't kneel does that make them racist ? If the FA cared they would boycott Qatar but it's all a show. Pull the big rainbow flags out in Qatar and perhaps I'll believe they care about gay rights
It's not even about George Floyd, it's about kicking out racism. So, how ever long racist people still exist, then it should continue. Unless we just bury our heads in the sand. But it's weird how players taking a knee, for a few seconds, trigger so many people. So, maybe it's doing some good.
If you don't agree with football players kneeling forever which started of as black lives matter then you are Racist by default. By this logic they are creating racists not eradicating them. Sounds very divisive
Taking the knee was started long before BLM emerged. In 2016 Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for the SF 49ers, sat during the national anthem before the game because of brutality and injustice towards black people. Newly elected Donald Trump saw this as sacrilege and said he should be kicked out of football. He wasn't and instead he and other players started kneeling before games. It was a sports based protest much like the raised arm at the Olympics rather than the left wing conspiracy you are describing it as. Being black in America is no picnic. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick
So it's about police brutality and the senseless shootings of black people? Yeah we don't have that problem here in the UK . You clearly have no idea what you are talking about as BLM was created by lesbian Marxists in 2013 . Their goal to close ALL prisons defund the police and destroy the nuclear family. They burned down cities killing innocent people causing billions of dollars worth of damage. The leader of UK BLM Sasha Johnson was shot in the head in London . By black drug dealers .
Colin eh ? His white mum and black father put him up for adoption where he was raised by a wealthy white family in a loving home . They paid for him to go to College where he became a below average quarterback. From your wiki source Kaepernick was born in 1987 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to 19-year-old Heidi Russo, who is white.[10][11] His birth father, who is African-American (of Ghanaian, Nigerian, and Ivorian ancestry) and whose identity is unknown,[12] separated from Russo before Kaepernick was born.[13][14][15] Russo placed Kaepernick up for adoption and at 5-weeks-old he was placed with a white couple named Rick and Teresa Kaepernick. The couple had two biological children: son Kyle and daughter Devon. The Kaepernicks decided to adopt a boy after losing two other sons to heart
wtf? To be honest, I don't know why you're so angry about players wearing rainbow colours, and taking the knee. But it seems to trigger you, for some reason...
I'll ignore your rudeness and stick to the facts. While BLM has been around for longer it is not one entity or organisation, but comprises "a broad array of people and organizations". Note that "in June 2020, a Pew Research Center poll found that 67% of adult Americans expressed some support for the Black Lives Matter movement." Like any large movement, there are various factions, but it is not a sports based protest. Taking a knee, which lasts about 5 seconds, is sports based, which is why it has been adopted here to protest against racism in football and elsewhere precisely because the UK does have brutality and prejudice against people of colour.
The biggest threat to black people in the UK is other black people. 100s of black teenagers brutally stabbing each other every year in London but there's complete silence on this .
If players paid tribute to all the dead teenagers from Knife crime and bent the knee I would get behind it . Nobody seems to care though
I suggest you start a new off topic thread if you want to pursue social issues, Dunc, so the rest of us can discuss football and maybe even 'today's games'.
Yes I agree pushing social agendas and competing for a place in Qatar has nothing to do with sport . Yet here we are into our 3rd season of kneeling . Enough already
Far left does the same, such as the vitriol spat at Rachael Riley for speaking up for the Jews. Both far left and far right are as bad as each other (and more similar to each other than they would ever admit!). I have no time for either of them. Anyway I am not going to post on this again unless we start an off topic ' Do politics and sport ever mix?' thread! Back to Matches: Stockport take on Bolton in a first round replay, how the mighty have fallen. Bolton are 11th in League 1 and Stockport 11th in the Conference. I'll be supporting Stockport because I like to go for the underdog
