It's true hat he was playing more like a wingback much of the time. It may be a case of him needing to develop partnerships with Gibson, Omobamidele and Rashica but that should come with time. We need to take the opportunity to develop his game and those of our other young players like Rowe, Springett, Tomkinson and Gibbs while we're in the Championship.
The youngsters have done pretty well, let down at a corner by nobody in front of them attacking the second ball following a partial clearance -- familiar story I'm afraid. Gibbs again looking assured; Rowe the pick of the younger players; Idah running about to little effect; Hugill more likely to get a card than score; Dimi's rate of decent crosses (for Rowdy"s benefit), 1 in 4; Argos's rate not even that.
W e have to remember that Idah is a long way behind the others in terms of pre season. He’s only just coming back from a 6month long injury and only featured in 2 pre season games
I ended up paying a fiver to watch this game, it's cut out and frozen a few times. Not very impressed
Yes, of course, but you can expect to see something from him, some glimmer of intelligence or skill. Today I didn't see anything.

Thank you for that. Idah may indeed have some off games, but lets not forget our best run of form, last season, coincided with Idah's, before an untimely injury. Sargent played way more games and was ineffective in most of them. Hugill likewise has done more in preseason than Sargent did in all of last season- albeit against "lesser" opposition. As iv said, I hope Sargent turns it on and gets better, i really do. Just think he is down the pecking order atm
Balanced view from an official club source... Certainly the Hibs game means little. Giannoulis, Sorensen, Hernandez, Hugill, Gunn probably the only players to get meaningful gametime and stand a chance of being in contention next week, and perhaps just Giannoulis and Sorensen start vs Cardiff. Certainly would have been nice to see a statement performance from someone and give Smith a selection headache for the season opener, but that didn't seem to be the case. Seems pretty likely the starting lineup next week will be: Krul Aarons Hanley Omobamidele Giannoulis McLean Sorensen Cantwell Sargent Pukki Rashica Cantwell is either an 8 or a 10, with a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system. The CBs and CMs pick themselves through a paucity of options, and really only Onel and Hugill could feel hard done-by if left out. I certainly wouldn't be against them replacing Sargent and Pukki on pre-season form. Crossing to Hugill seems to have been the only consistently successful attacking tactic we've had through pre-season. Hard to see anyone else with a strong case for inclusion.
