McCarthy has become a very good keeper for saints...... to think that redknapp played green ahead of him and then he was released without being given a chance.....
That was a Harry all over. I couldn't believe we didn't play him more and he left. Another good player that should never have gone.
Watching the Arsenal game, by **** Newcastle are poor. What a lovely player Smith Rowe is for the Arsenal, though. Reminiscent of Alan Ball at his best.
I was impressed by Thomas Partey and Saka too. Smith Rowe does look like a quality prospect though. Good for England in the future. He was playing on-loan at Huddersfield last season and made nineteen appearances. Why aren't we getting player's like that in on-loan, especially being closer to home?
Wages, most of those are on more than our top earners these days. Their boot contracts are probably bigger than half our squad's individual wages...
You're probably right mate, which is a shame that they're earning so much money*, even at that age. (*Good for the them personally, but not in the wider context of football.)
We've had excellent youngsters coming through for England for a few years now. We've finally got it right and there is no longer a gap in technical ability with other Nations. Saka and Smith-Rowe are further examples. The future is bright for England imo.
We got Amos and Little Matt Smith. Amos’ loan was so successful we courted him all summer and signed him. Think I read somewhere we fell out with Chelsea over something (maybe post-Anton Ferdinand) and they won’t loan us anyone any more. Remember Mancienne signing and thinking he was going to be the new Rio.
I do recall reading an article in The Standard back in the noughties when we were on our knees, that we had an agreement with Chelsea, we would be the first choice for their loanees. Obviously that's gone kaput, probably for the reason you've mentioned. No bad thing for some.
Yes mate, loads of talent coming through, not from just the top four either. ( Whatever that is nowadays? ) Players coming through from everywhere, Maguire - Sheffield Utd, Sterling - QPR It's great to see John Stones resurgence as well. He started out at Barnsley.
I have a soft spot for Leicester because of friendships, but even without that I hope they have a good night. They have done brilliantly to convert their miracle season to pretty consistent top six residency.
