Are Derby one of the clubs that potentially may get a points deduction for selling their ground to their owners to avoid FFP? Certainly Wednesday and Birmingham but Derby rings a bell?

I think the Snow Queens financial irregularities were more to do with them basically accepting BET365 or whoever they are sponsored by paying for Rooney for them wasn't it?

Another classless club just like their near neighbours!

You are correct Sheepy - an article from 16th January 2020.........................

Derby County charged by EFL for breach of FFP regulations
The Rams have been referred to an independent Disciplinary Commission

Derby County have this afternoon been charged by the English Football League (EFL) following a review of the club’s Profitability and Sustainability submissions.

The EFL say they have charged the Rams for recording losses in excess of the permitted amounts over a three-year period, and will now be referred to an independent Disciplinary Commission, which will allow for the club to make their representations.

Derby could be subjected to a points deduction if the case against them is proven.

“Following a review of Derby County’s Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) submissions, the EFL has charged the Club for recording losses in excess of the permitted amounts provided for in EFL Regulations for the three-year period ending 30 June 2018,” said the EFL in a statement.

“The Club will now be referred to an independent Disciplinary Commission, which will hear representations from both the EFL and Derby County.

“As these matters are now subject to proceedings, the EFL will be making no further comment at this time.”

Spending regulations allow Championship clubs to lose £39million over a three-year period.

Derby reported combined pre-tax losses of just over £8m for the period in question, having posted a profit of £14.6m in their latest accounts.

However, those figures were boosted by the £80m sale of their stadium to owner Mel Morris - with the club subsequently leasing it back.

It was a deal which attracted criticism from fellow Championship clubs and is now coming under increased scrutiny.

Last March, Birmingham were deducted nine points by the EFL after a similar charge of breaching profitability and sustainability rules was proven against them.

Lets hope the EFL don’t fudge this. Question why it’s taking so long given the season is now at crunch time.

We've still got to play them at home and it's therefore down to us.

Apart from their off-field stuff, they've got to do it the hard way on the pitch as well - look at their remaining fixtures........

    Wednesday 8th July
    • West Bromwich Albion v Derby County
    Saturday 11th July

If they finish in the play off it will be because we have blown it rather than them winning that lot

    Direby 1 Florists 1.

Snow queens equalise in 7th minute of added time after Waghorn sent off.

Great opportunity for us to take advantage today.

Cash the 1st one out Sparkey... a bird in the hand and all that.

Then hopefully you get to enjoy the 2nd bet with nothing to lose <ok>

@Jammy 07 - stuck with it in our promotion season 2 years back and it all came right - from memory picked up about 700 quid for a simlar outlay as this season. No guarantee this time agreed, but bugger it, I'm going to go with it again.

The first bet (30 quid on a top 6 finish @7/1) seems a no brainer though the cash out looks tempting, but if we do get into the playoffs, anything could happen and I'll risk the tenner to the bitter (or sweet?) end. <ok>

After the next match you have a couple of crunch fixtures...in other words, it could easily go pair shaped.

For me it's about beating the bookies and if you cash out the first bet before you play Derby then you've won and can enjoy your financial success. I know it's only £40 but it's the bookie bashing principle which is at stake here.

I think you mean pear shaped. :emoticon-0105-wink:

They're all "crunch fixtures" in this final push Jammy. Our 4 games since the restart have resulted in 3 wins and a draw - that'll do us for now, although dropping 2 points at home to Charlton was a bummer.

When we take on Blackburn in midweek, Derby go to West Brom and then they face Brentford before coming to us - we'll be hoping a gap develops that they can't close.

Fulham at their place looks our toughest fixture but I'll take us to come back from there with something - we usually do. A point will do but all 3 would all but clinch a playoff place unless the jacks or nillwall go beserk in their next few games.

Our last 2 games are against bottom 6 clubs - really dunno whether that's a good or bad thing. <ok>
