Yeah, unbeaten in the league hey Dunc. Them were the days.... It's Rotherham, after all, so no chance of a poisoned chalice.....
A loanee, if we can find a good one, would be best and cost effective. If we were looking at a mid-table finish, then we could try the youngsters first. I'm still hoping for a shot at the autos or playoffs at a minimum, so think we need a replacement for Klose and Godfrey from outside the club. If Webber can find a player to buy, that's great. But with the financial climate the way it is, I don't expect to see him spending much.
Going with 3 centrebacks 2 that spent a long time out injured last season and a loanee that hasn't played for 2 seasons is extremely risky , especially after having all 4 centre backs injured at the same time last season and playing Amadou and Tettey there .
There doesn't appear to be any further rumours about a replacement CB for Klose. Like others on this forum, I am not feeling very confident about coping with 42 more league games plus cup matches with just 3 recognised CB. Can't imagine its to do with money.
We always seem to do the same thing . Last season we let in too many goals and were forced to play people out of position to cover centre back injuries. Let's buy loads of midfielders.
MFW article, found on Newsnow website, gives a very comprehensive account of the finances involved over the past two seasons including sales and purchases of transferred players. Certainly worth a read.
Good point. I don’t entirely agree with it that Farke is not going to get fired unless we are in the bottom three etc, ultimately there has to be some measure of league performance, but it is a very useful reminder to fans who are desperate to get rid of him that he and Webber have orchestrated an incredibly profitable few years which will keep us afloat for some time to come (possibly enabling stadium and youth setup upgrades). That counts for more than just a season or two of bad league results. But for me, he still needs to be showing results which are near enough in line with our quality. Interestingly I actually thought the Derby match was quite encouraging in that we played more fluently as a team than we had for some time.
Cantwell rumoured to be for sale at £25m. If this is true, can’t see Leeds stumping up this sort of money. Is Cantwell as good as Maddison? A survey conducted by Sky concludes that there are a number of Championship clubs clearly worried about future finances. Don’t think the names of any clubs are mentioned. Also, according to the survey, many lower league sides face a very uncertain future. All this news in on the Newsnow website. I don’t know how to get links from the Newsnow website to this website. Can anybody help?
Also, Larousi from Liverpool is also a strong rumour. Brentford also interested. He is only 19 years old, but has played for their first team a few times. I think it is agreed that we need a new CB, but would he gain a starting place at his age? If he is good enough he is old enough? This rumour has been about for a few weeks now.
Is this the one, CS? https://www.skysports.com/football/...s-fear-for-survival-without-financial-bailout
Canary Spring that’s the one. How do you get this link over to this forum? Just read a report that now Leeds and Villa are after Buendia. Cantwell seems to have gone off the radar at £25m. This whole saga involving Cantwell has dragged out for weeks.
