Not sure what the punishments would actually be for. Nobody actually withdrew from any competition or declined to play any matches. There would have to be an existing clause in the PL constitution somewhere that specifically prevents teams from signing up to some other competition. Then there's probably some legal mumbo jumbo over whether they were actually fully signed up to the new ESL. So not sure you can punish anyone for intent.
On the other hand, you can punish a club for conspiring with the then-Mayor of London and UK Athletics to scam a stadium out of the British taxpayer...
Yeah that is correct but realistically you ain’t gonna be open to selling if you can’t replace them. Leaves you short. That said, most would still probably be open to just selling the defence anyway.
It also has to be said transfer bans can easily be got around, most obviously how Chelsea were able to sign Mateo Kovacic in spite serving a transfer ban If a transfer ban was suggested, clubs would simply loan players in before the punishment came, and then use the loophole - as Chelsea did - that as they already had the player's registration that meant they weren't breaking the transfer ban There's several clubs who are in a position to do just that, too Juventus with Alvaro Morata and Federico Chiesa Milan with Sandro Tonali, Brahim Diaz, Diego Dalot and Fiyako Tomori Inter with Matteo Darmian Atletico with Moussa Dembele and Lucas Torreira Spurs with Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius The Sheikh Mansour Team with Scott Carson Arsenal with Dani Ceballos, Martin Odegaard and Mathew Ryan Add to that how several clubs in that list can simply use the numerous players they have out on loan while others don't have that luxury
think the transfer ban is worked around because of registration of players. If the ban was to come in this summer and january window, you wouldn't be allowed to loan players in (out of the window). At most i think you can purchase the current loanees? so in tottenhams case thats vinicius and bale i think you have on loan?
There is a certain irony that Los Ladrones can have their squad severely depleted if various clubs took up their loan options, as they'd lose Bale, Ceballos, Odegaard, Diaz and be unable to replace them - and the fact they're all on loan to the other ESL clubs makes the irony that much more hilarious
But who is going to purchase them? PSG would be the only possibility. Plus without the possibility of a replacement we are never going to sell.
On the other hand, if it keeps us outta the Europa Conference League trophy and puts the goons into the bottom 3 I am in favour of a 20 point deduction
Strong words from THST here, who are calling for the following: “We call for the immediate resignation of the Executive Board of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, and for the owners to work with us to appoint a new board that has elected and accountable fan representation on it. That representation must make key decisions about the running of the club dependent upon fan approval, and we would expect to see that made a legal requirement across the game.” Basically their argument is that Levy appointed himself as the fan’s representative on the board, but has clearly shown himself to be utterly out of touch, and the board themselves have shown that their actions have not been in the best interests of the club. THST is not universally popular and rightly so but I find myself agreeing with their stance here. This proposal also links into an idea I’ve seen mooted that, instead of implementing 50+1 as it is largely in Germany, clubs should have a fan representative on the board who has a veto on matters such as the ESL.
Quite how you’ll balance it with your role as DoF and posting on here I don’t know. You’ll be sleeping less than Ryan Mason!
I think we’ve learned that foreign owners with no knowledge and/or loyalty to the traditions of English football need to be reined in and kept under. In many other situations that might sound like xenophobia. But it isn’t. This is one scenario where British values dating back to Empire are really worth preserving- to the extent that making Priti Patel the Secretary of State for Sport, Culture and whatever would look like a good move.
Quite a few of your players are in the last year of their contract right? Biggest player is son (he got 1 or 2 years left at end of year?). If he doesn't sign will left seriously risk him going for a pittance like eriksen especially with your current debt levels? They won't let harry leave he has years left
That's odd, because for years Harry ****espout, BankruptSpurs, ****ssoko and all the other Lunatic Fringe ringleaders have accused the THST of being Levy's puppets Is it possible that these feeds don't have a ****ing clue what they're talking about?
or maybe they were but THST have changed their stance in the past week like a lot of fans seem to have due to the SL proposals
"For a stable competition, you need a strict Financial Fair Play . Now we cannot compete with state-owned clubs." - Florentino Perez. The President of Franco's Real Madrid, he of the Galacticos and spending silly money for decades, complaining about state intervention and money? That's... special. I'm actually in agreement with The Voyeur about this ****, though. Arsene Wenger has claimed ‘everybody in Europe dreams of destroying the Premier League’ in the wake of the seemingly failed Super League experiment, according to Sky. He's right. They don't want to fix their own **** ups, they want to drag our league down instead.
The biggest issue is there's plenty of boneheads in this country willing to do the same thing, egged on by Murdoch as much as club rivalries This is why there's very little call for points deductions for Man Utd: all of their rivals, namely The Sheikh Mansour Team, Saltypool and the Nomads, aren't in a position to jump up and down screeching hysterically - which isn't an issue for Everton and West Scam fans, hence they're being so performatively indignant
