only squad "exhaustion" excuse permitted would be for an injury
plague of biblical proportions.

 

Not that extended, as it happens, but you do get more of the buildup for the goals, which is good.

 

While our form in the PL has been awful for a while, our results against top teams have been excellent. We may need two very different approaches to playing two types of teams, since they use two basically different approaches.

In any case, this 4222/4231 (22222?) looks like a good set up against teams that will try to sit back and counter...and Aurier looks like our best option at RB.

 

Probably three scenarios :

1. Top 6 (wherever)
2. The rest (at WHL)
3. The rest (away)

 

But we've still got to learn to overcome the Newcastles of this world. We made Steve Bruce look like a world beater instead of another Pardew.

 

Our whole set up was wrong. We played into their hands completely and paid the price for it.

 

And we had Mike Dean doing his best to ensure that we lost!
