Totally agree, if we’d have won because of the Aurier goal or the pen I’d have been delighted with the 3 points but ultimately it would have papered over the cracks, just as the CL run did last year.
I'm wondering if our spending this season has improved us? Are THESE players going to do much for us?
It's probably because of confirmation bias. You probably didn't see us turning the Villa score on it's head either but don't remember that in the same way you remember this. We've done it plenty of times to others, we've just been on the receiving end of it today.
Went away once it was 1-1, because I knew the outcome. No real leaders on the pitch, nor a collective nous to control a game in any scenario other than the opposition has already been spanked (as in the Palace game) . Not clinical/intelligent enough in attack, and if I want slow slow sideways slow, I can find clips of AVB 2013-14 on youtube. BIG questions now of manager and squad for the first time in quite a while.
Anyway, I thought Winks and Lamela were really good again today and I think it suits Ndombele to be playing further forward where his errors cause less problems, he just needs a few months to get used to the league, I think. Eriksen was **** again when he came on.
I won’t judge our new players...it seems apparent that they have landed themselves in a **** situation
Villa were bloody awful.Made us look better than we were! I think it's time to arrange taxis and wave goodbye to some of our players....
Yeah but because we did it once or twice here or there doesn’t mean we can sit on our laurels...top teams are relentless...we’ve lost that.
I can see Arsenal rubbing their hands and thinking they may get their CL spot again. Surely they must pick up 3 points today against....errr?
Its impossible to say for certain he was offside unless the camera is in direct line with the incident, and who is to say when the exact moment when the ball leaves the foot of the player making the pass is. I thought VAR was here to overturn clear and obvious mistakes, in this instance surely the decision has to stay with the on field officials. Unless you are Spurs and the goal shall be ruled out on the evidence of a skewed camera angle. Also, we had a clear and obvious penalty not given by the referee or VAR v Newcastle, I suspect bias and corruption is as rife in the VAR studio as it is on the pitch.
At the risk of oversimplifying, Sissoko getting subbed was the error - yes he was on a booking, but given Wanyama both picked up a booking within minutes of coming on and lost the ball that led to the equalizer, protecting a player from a second booking backfired horribly Realistically we'd have been better off changing from The Infernal Diamond to the usual double pivot at that point in the match anyway, as Winks was having a real stinker as he was both misplacing passes and also letting Maddison past him all too easily - and as his job is to block runners, pick off loose balls and recycle possession, if he's not doing that the options should either be a like-for-like replacement (namely Skipp) or to change the system to get back on the front foot (i.e. bring on Eriksen or Lucas and change to a 4231 and occupy their full backs with two of Son/Lucas/Lamela)
