Imo, it's pointless saying we should stifle them, park the bus or whatever anti-football euphemism you care to employ. To play defensively is not an ad-hoc decision to be made according to the opposition. At least not in our case, it isn't. To do it well, you have to have the players with the ability, discipline and mind-set to pull it off, and we haven't. I think we've improved a little in the defending of set-pieces and the like, but not enough for me to have the confidence that we can play that way for long. It's long been a truism that the best form of defence is attack. That doesn't mean I think we should abandon all pretence of defence, just that we know where we should put the emphasis.
my view is that is the only way we can play them yes, whether we score or not is separate we have to make it hard for them to establish possession and make it a work rate contest. I agree we cannot give sides space and expect to not leak goals. we have to deny the space high up and win the ball asap them keep it. I would be perfectly happy is 80% of the game is played in the midifeld zone with both sides having a hard time getting any real chances. If we get a chance we have guys who can score but will miss as well. if a chance falls to kane 90% of the time is a goal.. that the worry. I'd love to hammer them in the first 30 and blow them off the park but they are too fit annd strong for that.
no i don't. Mourinho never put any pressure on us anywhere. Our style is t press hard high up and to try win that ball back fast.... I think you will see the full backs high. The whole key to klopps philosophy is to win it high and early and that SHOULD least 3 guys at the back. The full backs go high and press high specifically as a full back getting it up there has to kick it long to clear. Our issue IMO is our entire midfield 3 vacate the midfield pressing or just jogging back and leave the two CMs. IMO the 433 employed is what it is.. theoretical. Its actually 451 in deep defence, 343 in attack if not 325 actually. he wants those full backs right up. everyone needs to do the job and cms need to be better at thier positioing and minding their runs. What i generally see is if we get the ball our lot seem to gamble too much on trotting forward and letting lads behind them then get a shock rather than saying ok my job is to assume the worst and be goal side assuming we lose it.
Our style of play is identical to that of Tottenham, likely to cancel one another out. Goals can be as a result of individual errors.
I agree goals will come form that but i don't think we are quite identical. they work hard and run hard but are founded on solidity at the back and in CM area. they fully backs push on and 343 adaption last year was saying ok go even further but it was always very good CBS and two brickhouse CMs. we are not that
mate of mine who has problems , his parents have a lot to answer for, has updated the OP with a view from a Spursy perspective.
Only four pieces of information needed for a match thread... 1) who the opponent is 2) date of match 3) kickoff time 4) is it on tv / what channel ...three out of four isn't too bad but the one you missed is the most important!
