Agree with comments about GLC, he’s definitely getting there. Bale too, valuable minutes for him. With the young players I do think we have mismanaged them broadly, but if we can keep winning the EL group games then I’d expect them to have opportunities in the latter stages of the group as our position becomes more certain. Jose also has the League Cup game to give them some time. But after that I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple, if not all, of Clarke, White and Cirkin get loans for the second half of the season. They all need to play, especially Clarke.
yeah I’m afraid Vinny looks shook...too scared to make a mistake so thinking too much which takes away the instinct Bergwijn low on confidence too...but I don’t see why he doesn’t want to prove a point if he’s got it. Jose is fair...if you’re performing you’ll get the chances
That was very comfortable, but we still managed to make hard work of it. one of those matches where we always had a degree of control, but still didn't look completely comfortable. We are still prone to giving the ball away with poor passes and against this quality of opposition we get away with it, in the premier league matches we have coming up that will not be the case.
I think he’s just built like that in that he will always look a bit bulked but still he’s got half a stone to tone up in him. Ndombele still needs to lose a good half stone of fat as well I think
In general I’d agree, Jose has been more than fair but I’m not sure he has with Bergwijn. He dropped him last season when he was on fire and he never got back in the team, this despite Lucas being predominantly ****. If I was to criticise Jose’s actual management of the squad it’s that he’s picked some favourites that really shouldn’t be favourites, Dier and Lucas the two standouts. Neither have done well enough over a long period yet seemingly earn the favour of Jose more or less every week. Not sure if it’s the Portuguese speaking factor or not but I feel Bergwijn’s drop in form could be down to the manager more so than the player. Others like Dele have certainly been treated fairly because he had last season and this to prove himself and he hasn’t, so he’s rightfully lost his spot, whereas Tanguy has been the opposite and become useless to nearly undroppable but I just feel with Bergwijn (maybe Vinicius too, albeit very early for him) he could’ve been handled a bit better than he has.
Winks played like he is capable of in the first half, moving the ball and popping up all over the pitch - but in the second, as soon as we concede, he went back to the percentage plays machine he is
Says me as I sit on the sofa and loosen off the belt a notch after eating a jacket potato and chilli big enough to choke a horse
Sessegnon starts on the bench for Hoffenheim, while Foyth isn't in the squad for Villarreal's game which has been delayed by 70 minutes because the pitch looks like this Yeah, I think I'll go back to staring at Pennsylvania for the rest of the evening and update the Loan Watch in the morning...
