I wouldn't be happy with that team selection if Mourinho was still here, I must admit. Dier shouldn't be starting and we've got no striker. Mason deserves some leeway though, so I hope it works out for him. Not sure what Southampton's shape is, either. Could be a weird game.
Southampton have had more attempt on targets in the opening two minutes here than in their wembley semi final
feel a bit guilty saying this after the super league debacle in particular, but I’m excited about tonight’s game for the first time in I don’t know how long!! COYS
We look like we lack a bit of structure up top, would have been nice to see Vinny given a chance. Barely had a chance to hold on to the ball yet.
We’re getting a bit more going through midfield which is nice to see. Still think that Højbjerg and Ndombele’s positioning has been a little off at times in possession but it’s better than lumping it long and looking over the top constantly. They’ve clearly been asked to try and play out a bit more than under Jose.
Very poor opening 20 mins. Too slow all over the pitch and very poor at the back. Trying to use the width of the pitch which is good but need speed of movement and passing
