Our single signing is (yet) more evidence that our plan is to rely on youth. We hired a manager who seems particularly good with younger players, and keep adding good youngsters while attritting veterans. All things considered (stadium to pay for, reputation as the perfect penultimate club for players) it makes sense. It also seems to be going along nearly as well as might be hoped--at this point.
There's just now an article in NewsNow that Spurs have not done a Bostok again so others have the same fear as me.
I doubt that is the case, it may well be a hope but you have to look at the recent past when we spent around 100 million on buying in talent. It is this recent activity that made further activity in this window unlikely unless a Van De Vaart type opportunity occured. There is no doubt we would hope to produce more home grown talent and the present squad is better than for some years in this regard but we will still need to buy in talent. Levy of course has long had a policy of buying young players as an investment and has proved himself astute at it.
I wonder if Real Madrid are rubbing their hands at the thought of "their future Tottenham talent". Say it ain't so,dad!!!!!
Course they are. This is what annoys me, the top teams always buy the best players from other clubs leaving them to stagnate and unable to prosper. Maybe if we start winning things then our best players will stay.
Trouble is that as soon as a club makes progress the top 4 simply buy their players to disrupt them so they dont get a chance to consistently win trophies. Between 1996 and 2004 only campbell and teddy were targeted by top 4 Since 2006....carrick, berbatov for 2 years, keane, modric for 2 years, bale for 3 years, there walso talk re robinson to united, lennon to liverpool, We had our best season at the time in 2006 and chelsea took our dof which led to us being destabalised and united took carrick. At the moment lloris , eriksen and kane have all been reported as going to real madrid, psg, united, chelsea and city.
except Adebayor who was offered £250,000 a week in Qatar but decided to be loyal to Spurs and fight for his place. ( probably physically fight )
They should've asked if anyone wanted to help hog tie him and bundle him on the first flight to Qatar to make the deal go through.
He didn't like the thought of wearing a towel on his head and a bedsheet......mind you,he could hide very well on a football field in a towel and bedsheet!!!!!!!?
ITKs claim we have pretty much agreed to sign Reid and Ings in the Summer. Twitter is also stating that we'll be signing Konoplyanka on a free in the Summer. Re. Ings - obviously he's not the 'sit up and take note' striker that perhaps we, as fans, want - but he's young, English, improving as a striker (took his goal well today for Burnley) but the key thing for me is that he works really hard. This alone makes me think Poch really does want him - we've seen how hard the Spurs team worked against Arsenal and Ings, it seems, would fit into Poch's style. A hard-working striker whose finishing is improving (still only 22) would be great backup for Kane. As opposed to Berahino, who perhaps is a better striker at the moment, but doesn't work as hard and sometimes has attitude problems.
http://www.givemesport.com/544499-harry-kane-says-he-would-not-join-manchester-united journalism really is ****e sometimes! I love the question at the end of the article..."tell us if united should sign Kane"
Effing typical: Yedlin hasn't even played for us yet, and already he's eating tackles that would make Charlie Adam proud from some panamanian or other...
