Good news! There must still be some ambition somewhere. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised in the next season or two.
Thank goodness for that. An undeniable piece of good news and genuine progress for the future of the club. I honestly can't remember the last time we were able to say that!
This is such good news. It is exempt from FFP It shows a real, solid and long term commitment from the board It will be an excellent modernisation for the team and the youngsters. Warburton is a great fan of development, and this will continue what we are starting This is so much better news than just buying some wannabe star to get us upto the premier league. We tried that and it was an unmitigated disaster. Come on uRRRRs, we are on the up again
They got the comms right too. Nice to acknowledge we're rightly sick of updates and false starts, but that this is the real McCoy!
I actually think that this has been a good season for us in so many ways. We play some good stuff - have a young squad, a manager who seems to know what he is doing and who works in tandem with the Board. The investment is spot on and the latest stats show that we have learned our lesson financially. That coupled with the community side of things (Grenfell) suggests we do have a long-term future. And of course we are no longer handicapped in the transfer market by our embargo. I have absolutely no reason to suppose that they will undo all the gains made by splurging like mad in the summer. We survived and prospered for years 'growing our own' buying cheap, nurturing and developing players and then selling them on. Another couple of years and neutrals people will forget that they ever hated our club because of what they became in the hands of a few business men out to make a quick buck.
I feel it's only right and proper to acknowledge the work of the SWF group in allowing us the benefit of acquiring the freehold of this land......they can be very proud of their efforts and can look forward to many years of walking their dogs and admiring the wildlife amongst all the weeds and assorted rubbish on the site.... Great news all round....
Out of pure spite, I wish the club would walk away from helping Ealing council at Warren Farm, thus allowing some twat of a property developer to move in and build a ****load of "social housing" on the site....
Have a look at the "allsvenskan" table after 6 matches! Still buzzing after this evening's 3-1 against Gothenburg. A really beery Monday! (Allsvenskan is the Swedish league)
From the official statement..... Fellow Vice Chairman Ruben Gnanalingam added: “This is fantastic news. “The next step for us now is to engage further with the London Borough of Hounslow and discuss our aspirations to upgrade the quality of the pitches and redevelop the existing buildings. “We also remain committed to working closely with Ealing Council to assist them in providing community projects at Warren Farm.” “During these very challenging times we hope this move demonstrates the ongoing commitment we as a Board have towards QPR, a football club we care very passionately about.”
Agree with this 100%. A few days after Wigan went into administration because their overseas owners are in no way interested in the future of the club we have an announcement at QPR not only indicating significant ongoing investment in a seriously loss-making enterprise but that our owners really are in it for the the long haul and have a genuine interest for it's future survival. There couldn't be a starker comparison.
