Hopefully this doesn't involve spending much money - I don't recall Ealing Council falling over themselves to help us
Excellent news on moving to our very own training ground. Have to say Bhatia has made a difference to how things are run from ‘upstairs’ and showed, from his statement, he knows the feelings of the fans too. It does seem a statement of intent and will hopefully continue through good business acumen in player investment and talent recognition to progress the clubs fortunes. Well done all. Let’s keep the momentum going now we have total control of our training ground future.
Well it is big enough for a stadium, but I don’t know if it would ever get planning permission. Even it would, then we need a new training ground! Catch 22.
I think Oslo is referring to building a stadium at the Warren Farm site rather than the newly acquired Heston site No idea whether that is practical, but I doubt Ealing Council will be that supportive, not to mention the 5 local NIMBYs that caused all the training ground development issues in the first place
We now have a new training ground at Heston right. I was just wondering as well why our owners are talking continued work with Ealing council on Warren Farm. I guess it is community work, but..... I remember it from decades ago as just a huge chunk of wasteland, likely to be used for something one day.
Please don't shoot me down if I'm wrong on this, but I think we now/still have a 200 year long lease of the Warren Farm site. This has dragged on for so long now so had to do some searching. Have a look here for some back story http://www.wfig.org.uk/ This could be a very useful asset financially to QPR in the future if true
Don't think we'll be signing that lease...says it will only be signed once construction has been completed, and seeing as we couldn't even get a spade in the ground without some NIMBY getting their knickers in a twist I doubt we'll be building anything substantial - maybe some toilets for the dog walkers?
I think we just felt a bit bad for dropping the whole thing like third grade French when something better came along. Still, it could be a great little project for the QPR in the Community guys.
Interesting idea but may not be the best time to be asking fans for cash That said I would potentially be keen though if the interest rate was good and the bonds would be repaid in a sensible timeframe
