    FA CUP 3rd ROUND REPLAY
    Prenton Park
    Tuesday 14th January 2020
    Kick Off 1945 GMT

The first thing that should be said is that the grass seen on the picture above, is that not all of it is there at present. It seems that there are no ground staff and the pitch is being maintained by volunteers. There have been a number of people suggesting that with more heavy rain forecast the game is in danger of being postponed.

The fact that this game is taking place is due to Watford taking their foot off the pedal after half time when they were leading 3 - 0. Despite that unexpected result we can expect that a young side similar to the one in the first leg, although seven of that side did take part in the Bournemouth game.

Tranmere are not having the best of seasons and currently are in one of the three relegation spots. They have been close in the past to winning a place in the top league and also a few seasons outside of the league. There have been many seasons where financial concerns have been a major concern.
Markos Palios is an English chartered accountant, football administrator and former professional footballer. In August 2014, it was announced that he and his wife Nicola were taking ownership of Tranmere Rovers F.C., where he had once been a player.

Further news will be added as available

    Tranmere Team News

Liam Ridehalgh and Ollie Banks could make their first starts since returning from recent injuries.

Scott Davies, Mark Ellis and Evan Gumbs all remain out of action.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is a doubt for the visit of Watford.

According to the BBC we have not won an FA Cup 3rd round replay away since 1950 when we beat Preston.

    But the pitch won't!
In fact they have made a film about it: 'and a river runs through it' :)

Liverpool Ladies team are using the pitch for their home games, and the match they had Sunday had to be postponed because despite work on it it was waterlogged. There are covers on it to prevent the heavy rain that is falling up there this morning making matters worse, but that will not improve matters beneath them. The locals are still far from sure the game will take place.

So supporters will already be on their way or in the area. Not the best option but I think the match has to be played almost regardless of the conditions.

Very interested to see the team news. After the 1st match it was clear we needed one extra pair of experienced legs out there.

The #watfordfc supporters coaches have been turned round en route to Tranmere. No official confirmation yet, but this suggests that unsurprisingly, tonight's game is off.

onight's Emirates FA Cup third round replay against Tranmere Rovers has been postponed, following heavy rainfall from Storm Brendan at Prenton Park since Sunday.
Both clubs were in regular contact with each other, the referee and the Football Association over the past two days, discussing the options available.

However, following a pitch inspection this afternoon, the referee decided the match unfortunately could not go ahead.

The date for the rescheduled match will follow as soon as possible.

That is going to provide some fixture congestion - the only option I can see is playing the game on the day the 4th round is due to be played and then moving that fixture out - if possible. Not sure if there is a precedent for this...

The date will be the weekend of the 4th round, as no other time to play it before then...

Have to be played this week or on 4th round weekend.

If Wolves win their replay the 4th round tie could be played the week of 27th Jan but Man U have a League Cup semi that mid week so that wouldn't work if they won.
