Why do Arsenal need to put "all their resources" into preparing for Fenerbache?

In what way are Dick Law or Ivan Gazidis involved in match preparations at all?

I'm working on the assumption that Wenger, medical staff, media facilities etc would all be involved in any transfer activity.I also took into account that as we're playing Fenerbahce on Tuesday they would have a training session at the Emirates so using these reasons I would not expect anythng to happen until after the game.

Just want to say that Krul will not be going for cheap, and by the time you've agreed a fee for him, you'll probably be thinking about getting someone better for cheaper.

According to Marca we've put in a €30m bid in for DiMaria, the bid is acceptable to Madrid but Di Maria doesn't want to leave

Judging by most reports it does seem Maria is reluctant. He will have to be told explicitly by real there's not much chance of him playing. Don't want cabaye waste of cash IMO and don't think we are in for krul. May be wrong but seems like media bs to me.

The reluctance of Di Maria and even Benzema in wanting to join us is the type of thing I've feared for Arsenal. You see, at the end of the day, while some fans on here like to live in this bubble world where they still think Arsenal are an elite club in the same rank as your Madrid's and Munich's, but to outsiders, when a club goes through a long spell like Arsenal, with no trophies or success, losing their top players, fighting for top 4 etc, well such a club prospect does not appeal to the best of the best, especially if they're already at a top club.

Really, why would Benzema or Di Maria leave a club like Madrid, for Arsenal? First team football? I'm quite sure they're thinking if we're going to leave for first team football, then it'd be to another top elite club able to challenge and win things, like United, or a Munich.

Now we have the money and can go for the top players, but do the best of the best even want to join us?

Hopefully we work some magic at the negotiating table and put out the best pitch for the likes of Di Maria and Benzema for why it'd be a great decision to join Arsenal.

He may not have much choice. If he wants to play, he would be better moving abroad with the imment arrival of Bale. In a WC year I think he will do it. In another year, perhaps not so much. The lure of first team football at Arsenal may prove decisive eventually.

So how do teams like spuds attract players? The argument we have not won anything is imho a tenuous one. There are a million and one things (ok not a million) why we would be fantastic proposition. Club with tradition, history, class, the best in London, participate in the champions league, great city, fantastic stadium, great coach, great fans, opportunity to make a difference, be the final piece of jig saw etc etc. Really, all that lets us down is something more fundamental, reluctance to spend. Money is the issue.

I think what attracts many players is the chance to be a part of something special. If players are assured that a team will be fighting for honours and is ambitious, they will want to join. How else do you think AVB has convinced the players he has to join them this summer? They are under the impression that they are a club on the up and will be challenging for something. It may not eventually be the case, but this holds true at the start of the season. Money of course also plays a part in it.

Really? So joining a player joining the spuds would have been sold on the "the chance of being a part of something special"? Any footballer joining spuds who falls for that must be a fool. We hear this from them every year, I think our fans underestimate the stature of our great club. We are not too far away from a team capable of winning things. Take money out of the equation, only Manure in England has a better pull than the Arsenal.

If you sign for Spurs, you're signing for an ambitious club that has quite clearly been on the up over the last few seasons. They have a great, well-respected manager who has won a lot for a man his age, and are clearly still trying to improve.

If you sign for Arsenal, you sign for a club that hasn't won anything for 8 years, with instability at boardroom level thanks to a disinterested owner & a renegade 2nd majority shareholder. You sign for a club that seem eminently content with mediocrity.

That may or may not be true, but to a player looking at Arsenal from the outside, so they see consistency under difficult conditions, or do they see stagnation?

Do the statements of the manager play any part at all? If the players themselves don't pay attention, it's their agents job to do so.

You are Benzema and you look at our squad, you recognize some decent players, but all in all you see that there is not much competition for every place on the pitch. Then you look at the statements of the manager "we don't need the quality, only the numbers". I bet that fills players with ambition, doesn't it?

they may well look at a club that has won nothing under this coach for 8 years, being given another contract .

At least when he looks at the spuds he sees a changing team and new coach , a club that is clearly improving however slowly .

At Arsenal there has not been much , if any improvement , only an insistance that we are fine and will win something soon if we carry on the same road under the same coach ..

not very inspiring for a potential signing is it ?

But hey , the stadium is payed for .....................but 8 years of failure also has a price .

It makes the club less attractive , you need big names to attract more big names .

The question is , which big name is gonna be the first to take a chance. ? :cheesy:

    Lets say

    Chelsea
    Man Utd
    Bayern
    Barca
    Real
    Arsenal

all put in their maximum 60 million bid for Lewandowski .

All the money is exactly the same .
Where do you think Arsenal would come in his team of choice to go to ?

    First or Last ?

We might need to 'do a city' and offer better wages than the other clubs to attract the best players.

Sadly though mate I fear we should of been doing that earlier (Mata springs to mind). I am sure Di Maria would like the opportunity to sample a new life in London if there were a few more £'s in his weekly pay.
