I think he's exactly the type FSG would want to sign; young, quality, high resale value and great on the commercial side too. The problem is, he'd blow our restrictive budget to smithereens!
When he was 19 in a **** squad. Yeah lets look at what happened 4 years ago when he was still a teenager, in team heading for relegation and on loan (so probably was hurting from Bayern farming him out as a teenager) And ignore where he's at now after 4 years of development.
Just imagine it. You're a 19yr old, who has just starred for you're country and had a rapid rise in club football that has got you to Bayern. You've had a tough start to you're Bayern career, so they tell you you're going on loan... Going on loan to Swansea!! You'd be pissed, no suprirse he didn't really do the stuff for them
It's tough but the lad lost his way big time, irrespective of what he did before or since its on his cv. Same as brandt for example.
Plenty players move to clubs too soon and lose their way before reigniting their career. Depay, Zaha both went to united and flopped before taking a step back. luis Alberto for us. Salah, Lukaku… just because it’s on his CV doesnt mean anything in terms of his quality now. he’s been brilliant in a title winning team in Lille and in his limited appearances been much better than Bruno for Portugal these euros. Be interesting to see if anyone comes in for him. Think the Gini comparison is a good one, but he’s a bit bigger and more athletic. Happy to initiate contact and use his strength to keep hold of the ball. I would say doesn’t offer same goal threat as Gini, certainly not international level, but then we never saw that side of Gini for us anyway. Lille losing quite a few players and their manager so think next season might struggle so could be looking to jump ship before things go bad, or lille might hold firm in not letting anymore players go
The Portugal under 21 team had a few players who looked the business as well in the tournament. Romario Baro was the one in midfield that stood out for me. Along with Vitinho who is at wolves
Salah and lukaku have fought back from it. The others you mentioned didn't though. It will be interesting no doubt to see if someone takes the risk or the tarnish stays
Not true. Zaha been key player for palace and could have been playing for better club if didn’t price himself out of a move by signing new contract. Depay been scoring tonnes of goals in France and for Holland and now moved to Barca. Luis Alberto been key player for lazio and scoring goals and getting assists.
Well, you are talking guys that are doing alright verses players who moved to Fiorentina and everton and have got back to the top and won leagues etc. Depay is a free to barca, if he was not free he would not go there and wouldn't be going bar koeman's so he could be out on his ear in 6 months. Zaha has done alight for a mid table to lower half club but has not pulled up sticks imo. There is a tarnish to players imo when they have a bad time so getting a second chance at the big time is tough to do. Clubs are big business and want to see that consistent upward progression not a big dip. Just my thoughts on it. Would I buy zaha? No. Should I buy depay? No. Would I punt on renato? Not sure.
Sounds like White is on his way to Arsenal for £50m. Big money, thought he’d go higher than arsenal but maybe a stepping stone before move to a big club.
