I’m sure we rate the player but just not as highly as the player we got………if a better house comes in the market at a better price before you’ve exchanged contract then it’s sensible to change your mind.
Yorkie, any excuse to start knocking the new regime, give it a rest mate, it's getting boring! It's not as if they are like Alan Judge, then i could understand your whinging!
How many of us would fancy having our life savings/pension invested in a third tier sports team in a foreign country?Just saying! The new owners are under immense pressure to get this right.
If you turn that third tier team into a premier league team the potential is amazing for all concerned.
The investment in us from the pension fund comes out of the 'high risk' section of the portfolio. There is not the pressure to succeed as quickly as possible as the entire fund is protected through other, more guaranteed investments.
Obviously that’s the gamble they’re taking, but as I said previously, would you personally take those odds on your pension? Not sure I would!!But glad they’ve chosen us.
We are just a small portion of the overall fund, using cash specifically allocated to the high risk section. There is no danger to the fund at all
Thanks for that explanation SD.I can stop worrying that,if we go tits up,some poor retired firefighter is going to be living off bread and cheese in his dotage!
I think I preferred my original misunderstanding of events, where they were under serious financial (and moral) pressure to make us successful
I feel happy that when we are winning the premier league that those retired firefighters will also profit…
Nah, better to not have the pressure and be given the time to build things in the correct way under a well managed budget that will be reviewed on promotion. I don't want the owners breathing down our necks for instant success, it leads to short sighted decision making! There will be a clear strategy for getting us further up the pyramid, just not at all cost.
I get the impression that the ‘three lions’ are looking forward to the journey as much as us, they strike me as decent guys that want to leave the management side to the people they have chosen so they can enjoy it as fans and cheerleaders.
