If you are right about Soldado then it shows that AVB did have an input into the transfers so I can leave the blame with him and just add Baldini as an additional pain.
I am laughing because when we are all happy with the Spurs transfers and our last game result against United we can always look back and find something to moan about. It's all fine ATM but let's have an historical moan. I know I started it.
This is where AVB took a stand, and it was the wrong place to do so Benteke would have been a much better fit for AVB's system, as he would have been able to hold up the ball that would bring any of Lamela/Chadli/Paulinho/Eriksen/Sigurdsson/Townsend/Lennon into play (good work, Franco, bloating the squad to such a ludicrous degree...) while on the other hand Soldado is a poacher so would play on the defender's shoulder...which was an issue since we got the ball into the final third approximately four times per match with AVB's tactics If he took a stand somewhere else, for example saying that we had enough wingers/attacking midfielders so maybe don't bother with this Chadli bloke and instead sign a player who can dictate from central midfield thing might have worked out very differently ...and also not led to a few Kubrick Stares from Levy when it came to writing off Soldado and Paulinho so quickly
He arrived with plenty of time , wonder who we have in the archives from those that we didn't get over the line
I've always said that you can't change too many players because it takes time to settle in. However, we needed wholesale changes, Let's hope it works quickly.
Impressive business by Spurs. Time will tell who is a success or failure but at least all 7 were signed in positions that were needed. Also a good mix of age and experience that will help the squad.
The number that have England (PL etc) league experience is IMHO very significant. Reguillon immediately settling into the PL tempo is a bonus. If Vicinius can do the same and be at 10 PL goals level per season level, great. If not, then we must hope that he will be an effective scorer in all the domestic and EL games that he starts against non "big boy" opposition.
Tottenham are preparing to increase Son Heung-min's weekly wages to £150,000 a week in a bid to persuade the South Korea forward, 28, to sign a contract extension Let’s give this man whatever he wants
Getting Our Hopes Up Watch FootballDotLondon reports we're looking at three players for next summer: Wout Weghorst, Marcelo Brozovic *downs a shot* and Edouard Camavinga Weghorst certainly seems feasible for after Vinicius' loan expires, Brozovic certainly seems credible (and will also have a year left on his contract next summer), but Camavinga? No chance, because even if he'll also have just one year on his contract at the end of the season, he's had Los Ladrones in his ear since June Brozovic Watch On the subject of Brozovic, Calcio Mercato are reporting he could be on the move a lot earlier, with suggestions that he may leave in January after falling out of favour and reportedly having attitude problems - but considering it's Antonio Conte saying this, and he thinks Nicolo Barella should play as a trequartista and Christian Eriksen should keep his gob shut on the bench, I'm going to suggest it's not attitude problems and instead players merely asking what the ever loving **** he thinks he's doing
I mean, to be fair to them, I'm sure we are looking at him. So's everyone else. Actually signing him is something completely different.
Hope so. Hasn’t shown one thing that gives me hope there is a good player is there. Quite possibly the most pointless footballer I’ve ever seen.
It makes sense in the league as he's basically a free player given he's U21, which was needed at the time last season with injuries starting to rack up At this point, however, he's fast becoming the new Benjamin Stambouli: a byword for a short-term signing who was never going to last long
We should do, one way or the other. If Mourinho thinks that he's got a lot of potential and we can get a good deal, then we should sign him and loan him out. If he doesn't think that it's worth it, then we should let him go back to Benfica, so that he can get his career back on track.
We could now field a whole eleven players who have been signed or given extended contracts by Mourinho Hart Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Rodon, Reguilon Gedson Hojbjerg Bale, Vinícius, Bergwijn But I think only four of those would be in my first choice eleven. I wonder if signing fewer but better players would be more effective.
