They’d just lost Barzagli to retirement the summer they signed de Ligt, Demiral and Romero too. Safe to say Paratici/ the scouts at Juventus certainly knew a good CB when they saw one! As you’ve said it’s pretty impossible to tell how he'll do here with no Prem experience but winning Serie A defender of the year, qualifying and playing in the CL with Atalanta and winning the Copa America with Argentina must surely mean there’s a bit about him? Hopefully for once a big money signing for us will work out. We’re due a bit of good fortune!
Every signing is a risk but if Paratici rates him enough to sign him twice then that’s good enough for me
We're there folks. The magical stage of the transfer window where DH sits at his laptop, 9 different Twitter tabs open plus Google Translate, clicking refresh like a man possessed.
Do not take a drink every time you see a reply containing the name Romero You'll be dead in less than a minute
Yep! I usually do all of those checks. I must have been extra hyped and overeager to not notice the fakery this time.
Reports claiming that Kane is to tell the club tomorrow that he wants to join City. Some media claiming that Laporte, Jesus and cash (£30m-£50m) will be the offer. I have no idea if this is true (my guess is Kane will get an agreement that he can leave next summer if we do not win a trophy and qualify for the CL). But, if true, would people think that Laporte, Jesus and £40m (split the difference) is worth taking? Personally, I do. Think both are very good players and would rather not have this dragged out all bloody season.
I’m quite fat and a heavy drinker, so reckon I can last a few minutes because I never back down from a challenge.
I don’t think Laporte would ever agree to be part of that deal, just can’t see him being interested in joining us at the moment. Don’t particularly rate Jesus either so I personally wouldn’t want that. If we’re to let Kane go then get the most dough possible and hope Don Fabio can find some gems with it.
Kounde Watch So this has to become a thing again, as it has a knock-on effect with our business... The offer doing the rounds the other day of the Chavs offering cash + Zouma appears to have faltered for two reasons, first because Sevilla told them they want cash only and secondly because Zouma doesn't want to leave London (although, just in case anyone wants to make a comment about salaries, the Chavs are reportedly paying him £36k p/w, which is less than half what Kounde makes at Sevilla - oh, and apparently West Scam are after him) And here's how this involves us: Sanchez's agent is quoted in Marca saying he has spoken with the club, but as their squad is currently full he cannot move until a space opens up. Now, how would a space open up while giving Sevilla the ability to pay £20m for Sanchez...?
1st August and still needing 2-3 players in. Lots of talk this summer but still not enough actually done imo. Who’s going to be the Kane replacement? Surely not Danny ‘always injured’ Ings? Where’s the RB Spurs desperately need? Why haven’t Aurier, Winks, Sissoko been sold yet? I know the window runs until end of August but can’t see all this being done before then
Just want to see the team start the season with a strong a side as possible. Starting the season with no striker (can’t see Kane playing even if the city deal is delayed so he doesn’t play against Spurs) and with a back line including Dier, Sanchez & Aurier will be gutting to see.
Clarin, which is the number one newspaper in Argentina and definitely not toilet roll, report that Atalanta have executed the option to make Romero's loan permanent Given the deal with Juve was a two year loan with an option to buy (plus a buyback clause), the fact they've triggered the option early either means things are moving along at last...or that Juve are going to announce they re-signed him from Atalanta next summer
