Poor Bissouma, couldn’t shift Winks in time so he can’t take the number 8. Not sure why we didn’t just remove the numbers from Winks, Ndombele and Lo Celso though.
Probably just seems unnecessarily disrespectful. They're still our players. They haven't really done anything outrageous to deserve it. Quite funny that they occupy all of the 8s in the squad list, though!
Debatable, they’ve picked up thousands upon thousands whilst giving Spurs fans the urge to gouge our eyes out with their performances. Could’ve changed their numbers though, Perisic took Rodon’s after asking. I think Bissouma was waiting for 8 so not sure why we didn’t just switch he and Winks around.
He doesn't seem to have any particular attachment to it, though picking 38 suggests otherwise. He wears 20 for Mali and wore 21 at Lille, as well as 31, 32 and 33. Nobody seems to want 16, for some reason. Hasn't been a very successful number for us.
Not massively no, but then I doubt the club would’ve made fans aware that up until today his 38 shirt was subject to change, so I’d say it implied that he/ the club were anticipating a particular opening.
Udogie isn’t in Udinese’s squad tonight. I’d have thought if we’re loaning him back then him playing won’t be an issue, unless it’s just to ensure he doesn’t get an injury before his presumed medical assuming we agree terms with Udinese soon? Or maybe he’s just injured, lol.
It's been a very patchy, sparsely used number for us. Walker-Peters was the last one to use it in 18/19/20 after moving up from 37. Trippier had it before that in 15/16/16 then switched to 2. Various others have picked it up temporarily and then left it behind: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tottenham-hotspur/rueckennummern/verein/148
Unless my calculations are off, I think we can play all 30 of those players in the PL. Five are under 21 and only 17 were trained abroad. The CL is a different matter though as Davies doesn't count as homegrown and I don't think Gil, Sarr and Spence can be named as U21. So four would be left out. I think it's obvious who those would be but it's a bit of a squeeze if we sign anyone else.
Cucurella signs for Chelsea. £60m for a lad who has played one season in the PL is, in my opinion, a risk but in fairness that season was fantastic. Versatile player with an excellent engine who did surprisingly well in a more central position despite not being the biggest. So that's just the £160m net spend for the Chavs so far, then. Such a shame they were hit with all those sanctions.
It's also worth mentioning the maths Brighton said he would cost £50m back in June The Sheikh Mansour Team offered £30m in late July Chelsea came in and bid £60m So that's two monied clubs who look like knobheads...
It’s possible that Tanganga will leave and I think at least one of our RWBs will be sold by deadline day. Gil and Sarr will both also likely head out on loan I’d imagine.
