Blast from the Past Watch Het Nieuwsblad report that we've looking to sign Club Brugge RW Andreas Skov Olsen in January, supposedly at the recommendation of PEH Yes, that is the same Andreas Skov Olsen we were linked with three years ago when he was at Nordsjaelland, before he opted to join Bologna - who joined Brugge in January and has hit a vein of form, with six goals and three assists in 15 games this season on top of the six goals and eight assists in 15 games he picked up after joining them midway through last season Look, it's a refreshing break from reading Weston McKennie's name thrice daily...
Juventus Fire Sale Watch* With the news of the Agnelli family resigning en masse ahead of potential indictments for picking transfer fees out of thin air so they didn't have to declare €216m in losses, there is only one way to look at the situation So, who's Paratici going to swoop for in order to help them out of their potential strife when Serie B comes calling once more...? The Habitually Linked Weston McKennie (CM, 24yo, USA, contracted until 2025) Federico Chiesa (RW, 25yo, Italy, contracted until 2025) Dusan Vlahovic (CF, 22yo, Serbia, contracted until 2026) Filip Kostic (LWB, 30yo, Serbia, contracted until 2026) Bremer (CB, 25yo, Brazil, contracted until 2027) Add to that we could gazump Manuel Locatelli and/or Leandro Paredes from under them, given they're both loans but without an option to buy
Bremer, McKennie and Chiesa would be ideal for the Spurs squad Lots of clubs will be looking at these 3 though
Sean Walsh (no, not the unfunny comedian who shagged his Come Dancing partner while engaged to somebody else) claims we've enquired about Denzel Dumfries, with Inter needing to sell one player to balance the books If they're that desperate for cash, surely we should be thinking of Bastoni or Skriniar instead of a sideways step at RB?
Vlahovic would cost an absolute fortune but a very smart move as a long term successor to Kane, who I think will reject a new contract and leave this summer.
McKennie - not for me now that we have Bentancur and Bissouma along with Hojbjerg and Skipp. If we’re adding another CM it should be a creator. Kostic - yes please, releases us from having to watch Sess again. Bremer - yes please, upgrades CCB. Chiesa - not for me, great player but should steer clear of anyone that’s had a cruciate, which is why I don’t want Zaniolo either, who’s had two! Vlahovic - never happening. Dumfries - yes please, upgrades RWB, albeit all of us on here would upgrade RWB - and I’m strictly left-footed!
Bayern Munich are working to sign Tottenham's England striker Harry Kane, 29, in a deal that could cost between 80m and 100m euros. (Sky Sports Germany)
I think it’s time to cash in on Kane. There’s no way he wants to finish his career with spurs without the trophies and quite frankly I’m bored of the whole saga. We have had excellent players in the past and we move on. No reasons why we can’t do so again.
Losing Kane would send a message of lack of ambition though. Where are Spurs finding a replacement for Kane? In fact they need to replace not just his goals but his assists too.
As I said in the summer of 2021, if we lose H the reality is we would need to change our entire tactical setup For example, say we signed Dusan Vlahovic in the Juventus Bring & Buy Sale, as his game is broadly similar to Haaland's we would need to rejig our central midfield as his game is based on outpacing defenders after receiving balls through the centre - which ironically would have made him an ideal signing in the seasons between 2019-21 given H was dropping into midfield to ping those sort of balls through, but with us moving H into an out-and-out striker role we've reduced our creative output through the middle This is what happened in the summer of 2008 when both Keane & Berbatov were successfully (and blatantly...) tapped-up, we needed to change our tactical setup as the focal point had been torn out - but instead Ramos persisted with the same tactics in spite having Pavlyuchenko and Barren Dent upfront and those tactics simply didn't work as we lacked anyone who could replicate Keano's linebreaking, so everything flarped into a painful nothingness until Ramos was jettisoned and Redknapp actually tore up the tactical plan and came up with something workable
I guess it would depend on which replacement striker we would get. Having Kane leave would motivate other strikers to join us because none will want to join spurs to sit on the bench as Kane is never going to be a sub. There are plenty of strikers out there who are capable of scoring goals. Perhaps some that are capable of scoring in any finals we may reach. As for his assists, we have wingers. We need an attacking midfielder. We have lost key players before. Teams always evolve. I think Kane will be disruptive (again) if he isn’t allowed to leave next year. If he wants to leave, let him go now before his contract expires.
Munich won't pay that. We need to offer Kane a massive contract after the World Cup. If he accepts, that's great. If not, then a summer sale abroad is the best option. Include clauses for any sale to a Premier League club and avoid Bayern. Madrid or Barca might fancy it, maybe even PSG depending on what happens there. What that would mean for Conte is anyone's guess.
Could say the same for the Bale sale in 2013. Three years after the event Spurs were involved in an actual title fight for the first time in 30 odd years.
There’s not many strikers anywhere near the level of Kane and none that Spurs could afford. Spurs can’t be buying potential with the hope they’ll come good in 4-5 years and still expect to be qualifying for the CL and compete for trophies.
We could, but it would take a lot of strengthening in other positions, in my opinion. Selling Kane and picking up one striker with potential and one with experience could do it. We've already got Brazil's number 9, too. If we could sell Kane to Madrid and take Benzema on a free to fill the hole it could work. Highly unlikely, but other older options (Dzeko, Giroud, Firmino?) could be had for nothing. Grab one of the high potential youngsters for the future and we could limit the damage. Moukoko is out of contract, albeit probably unattainable, and I'm sure there are others.
We don’t necessarily need a striker of Kane’s level. We have others who can score too. We need to build a team that is able to score without being too reliant on one person. Spurs can be smart and find someone who can score regular goals. We have Richi, who can score. We have Kule, Bentancur and Son who can score. All we need is a capable striker who can also score. It would be great if Kane is happy to stay but it he won’t sign a new contract, we need to sell him. Spurs will be okay, and who knows, it might work out well for us!
