It certainly hampered his impact on the games that followed. I'm REALLY looking forward to the season ahead and hopefully being entertained in much the same way as we were when PL was our manager. <ok>

So the one piece of transfer news that has been even remotely interesting for us city fans this summer has been knocked back by Neil

He says there is nothing in the Quintero story Shame as he look classy.

Mbokani would be decent but everything has been VERY slowly done this summer!!

Talk of that CB from Celtic went quiet quickly... we need a CB urgently as we only really have 2 and a half (i like Russ Martin but he isnt really a CB!!!)

Not overly confident for this year given other teams movement in the market and our lack of it.

Disagree. I think we'd have made a decent go of this coming season with what we had at the end of last season. Some quality hires have been added and I'm confident that a combination of quality players, momentum and AN's approach will see us push on.

I think we will make a decent go of it with the squad but after getting Mulumbu on a free I would have got the Brady deal done quicker (it might not have been possible but we seemed to waste a lot of time with the ridiculously low bids) and focused on upgrading a CB..... I see that as the one area that could really make us some points this season.

Pretty much my view, HMQC. The five players who have come in, 4 of whom have considerable PL experience, have improved an already good squad without needing a lot of time for new players to 'bed in'. AN's emphasis on developing and maintaining team spirit and ethos is spot on.

I may be in the minority here, but I'm nowhere near as confident as was a few weeks ago after the play-off final.
IMO we do NEED another CB and I really don't think Jerome, Hooper and especially Grabban will cut it in the EPL this time round up front. McNally, pull your bloody finger out !

I'm still firmly of the opinion that we need a CB and another proven, at a decent level - striker to avoid any serious chance of sinking back into the abyss from which we emerged in May.
Apart from those two positions, I think we're ready to rock <ok>

I agree we could use some CB depth but I have no concerns about Jerome And Hooper performing. They're both quality and able to play in different structures. Still ?'s over striker depth beyond those two, in particular for me Grabban needing two bites at the cherry for plenty of his chances last season. Don't stress KIO we'll be fine and I'm planning to enjoy this season!

From the comments from Neil, Mbokani doesn't seem likely to arrive imminently either, they've just discussed him.

Looks like we're going to be waiting a while for an exciting signing.

Supposedly us, Villa and West Ham are chasing Liverpool's Borini. (Incidentally, why is it always "chasing"?)

Personally, no thanks. Liverpool accepted a bid from Sunderland for £14m and he wouldn't go there, so I don't think he's the type of player we want, certainly not at anything like that price.

You're definitely not alone, DH. I really thought we'd augment our squad a lot more by now than we have. It's our CBs that I'm most worried about. I'm sure McN is putting in a shift but without a huge amount of success as yet. Is it the lower wages compared to other clubs? If it's not being up for a fight in the relegation tussle then we don't want them anyway. I guess there's still time for players at other clubs to be displaced/relegated in the squad who may fancy trying their luck with us.

Did you mean the letters 'DH' to stand for something else? :emoticon-0105-wink:

DHCanary. However, I'm sensing you're referring to something else - sorry for being dense but what would that be?

Pretty sure I'm on the case, too.
Careful, Ware, he'll keep his match day threads to himself if you're going to hurl abuse around :emoticon-0105-wink:
