Totally agree but It was 22 minutes of those three games and he didn't score several goals, he must be rubbish!

I thought the same about Les if he is half as good we will have a useful player for the season.

Kakay is injured...so why hasn't he got a number

Obviously want to sell Luongo and Goss..

    And ? Leistner.

Don't read anything into GK numbers I think Lumley likes 13

I was sure I had read somewhere that QPR had received a bid for Leistner prior to MW taking over. Maybe they are hoping this will be repeated...
Im sure Goss will be a free transfer to someone

    Good point regarding Kakay!

Drawing tactical conclusions from the sqaud numbers is probably like reading tea leaves! :)

We’d probably have to subsidise Goss’ wages to get rid as he’s clearly dogshit and would be eaten alive in the lower leagues. He’d probably have half a chance in the Spanish lower leagues if he could be arsed, which he probably can’t.

Surely Barbet would make first 11? In place of Hall?

I think Goss has a year left on his contract so maybe time to pay it up and to draw a line in sand. If he could not gain a place in Olly's team, or McLaren's then he is hardly likely to in the new team MW is creating.

Remember players have favourite numbers..for example I think Lumley likes the number 13 and Sylla was always no 0.
Barbet may have chosen that number.

Warburton has made a thing about the 1st team and the u23 being seperate squads and that is why Brzozowski is not our 3rd goalie and appararently why we bought Barnes.

Walker also has not got a number either ( I wonder if he is now in u23 squad too).

Not related to yet another new Rs signing, but still transfer related...

Heaton for £9m to Villa apparently. Considering Smithies price, this seems extremely high for a 33 year old. Talking of Smithies, has he played a game for Cardiff yet?

Was that to Besiktas ?? Am I right I’m thinking one of Les’s first games for the R’s was a 7-0 defeat at Sheffield Wed ? I was at that game and remember singing in drunken jest ‘we want 8’ and Barron (the keeper turning round and telling us to ‘eff off’ while sticking two fingers up at us.......
Dunno if I’ve got the team or score correct but that’s what I remember

2 cup appearances according to Wikipedia.

I did see an article where Warnock was talking up Etheridge, as if he were trying to drum up a bid. From what I have seen on MOTD, Etheridge is very good and I believe there was some Premier League interest in him, perhaps as a back-up, I can't recall.

It was a great move for him, wasn’t it? From number one goalie in a Championship team to number two goalie in a Championship team via keeping the bench warm for a season.

There’s so much money in football these days it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s content with that (like so many others seem to be).

I was also at that game, freezing bloody cold. We bated Chapman (?) all the game about everyone shagging his bird (Lesley Ash), but he got the last laugh by scoring up the other end and running the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of us.
My memory states that we lost 6-0, but it probably was seven (?).

After a bit of googling worked out it was 7-1 on 2nd may 1987.
And I do remember the Leslie Ash banter :)

First home game of the season is going to be a bit weird. I'll be asking everyone around me ... 'Who's that who made a tackle, passed the ball or who had a shot? ' I don't know any of them except Hugill and only because he looks like Neil from The Inbetweeners.
