I know this was discussed before but couldn´t find the thread. Anyways, confirmation of what was mentioned in this article. The strange thing is players will still be able to be sold to European clubs after the window shuts, "The window across Europe runs until 31 August. The Premier League's move means while clubs will be able to sell until that date, buying activity will cease on 9 August for the 2018-19 season. European leagues will still be able to buy and sell until 31 August, while the Football League's window also remains unaltered." Get your "shopping" in early I guess!
I think that's the whole point really - to have a squad finalised before the start of the season, and still have time to sell any 'left-overs' rather than have them cooling their heels waiting for the next window.
That is right but no doubt come this time next season some managers will be complaining they didn't get long enough to sign players!
The big problem will be losing your star player then having money in the bank and you cant use it till Jan
V true and in so doing you have anther can of unhappy players .No player ever has to be sold as they are all under contract . But not many clubs has let players rot in the stands.
I'm not sure how you can have 'another can of unhappy players' though. If anyone is unhappy, they should surely speak up before a) the transfer window closes, and b) before the 25 man squad is submitted, and organise a move away. If left unchanged, the rules as they are now disadvantage the likes of Dja Djedje, who now faces another six months without the chance of a game - unless he is prepared to move to China today.
Could Dja Djedje not have asked for a move 6 weeks ago ? The top sides in the EPL can say NO and players sometimes get there wishes for the move but its clubs like us that could have a young up and coming star that had one good season lets say Richarlison and a top club from Europe come in once the EPL clubs cannot bid for him and try to get him on the cheap.IF we say no then we risk having an unhappy player . that value could go down because he is unhappy and does not play as well . did we not turn down 37m then the player did not perform as well so we took 20m and now he is hitting the goals again .The closing for buying and selling should be the same day .
You've changed the goalposts there - you originally said 'star player' and now talk about a young up & coming player. A star player wanted by a top European club would, in all likelihood, be an international player. To retain that status, he would need to be performing appropriately on a near-weekly basis - so really couldn't afford a case of the sulks. If they all carried on like that, they'd soon negate the need for contracts as they would be pointless. A bit of a big 'if' for mine.
Silva is causing trouble at mill niggling with the owners publicly too much at the moment. More info from this article. I wonder why the club voted against it?
Well the Pozzos do like to trade right up till the end of the window. Palace/Burnley/Swansea all rejected the idea as well despite Dyche and Paul Clement having the same view as Silva. As I say a few managers might be regretting the vote this time next year! Suspect Silva won't be ours..
Our star player for the top side of Europe could be looked on as up and coming .The point that no one has answered is "Why cant we have a buying and selling date the same" so every club knows were they are and if the rest of Europe want to buy an EPL player it has to be done in our timescales
And you are the other side a Euro negotiator trying to run away from the truth .There is no reason why we cant stop buying and selling on the same day
Yes there is - the season start & end dates are different across many European Leagues, to accommodate necessary winter breaks.
There is no need to keep our window open to allow player to be sold to oversea teams all deals have to be done within our dates .
It's not as if there's any consistency in England - this applies to PL clubs only, so any FL sides could in theory buy a player from a PL team.
