The 17.15 Nursery at Newcastle looks there for the taking for Royal Cay Made a promising début in July, 20/1 beaten just 6½L when 7/15 behind Mill Stream who, next time out was beaten only ½L by the so far unbeaten Charlie Appleby colt Noble Style. Noble Style subsequently thrashed G1 winner Royal Scotsman by 8l. Mill Stream was then 4th in a G3 btn 5¼L by Chaldean Next time out Royal Cay 33/1 was btn almost 10l by Sakheer who, admittedly, won in a canter but it was a fast time and, so far, I have mentioned 3 leading contenders for next year's 2000 Gns On his third and latest run 18/1 he was beaten 4L by Kerdos who remains unbeaten By Expert Eye out of a Dalakhani mare, the step up to 7f should be a plus I'm guessing that the latest run has got him into this race on a very handy mark, given his earlier form. None of the others have fared at anywhere near that level, as far as I can tell so 5/2 looks reasonable but, being a nursery, I doubt the price will shorten overnight so I would probably wait and get the BOG tomorrow
In the 19.00 it wouldn't surprise me if Thunder Star were to lead them a merry dance. She won her début then followed up with a 6¾L 4th to the subsequent Abbaye winner The Platinum Queen, despite wandering around over 1f out. If she can reproduce that effort with 5lb less to carry, that should be good enough
Pentland Hills set for fences on Sunday. His first run, in the NH sphere, since the '20 Champion Hurdle. An hour later the yard could have their first juvenile runner of the campaign - Midnight Train. This one has already danced a few dances having run on the Flat 10 times for old boy, Clive Cox. But will he strike on Sunday??? Will he derail the opposition??? Or will he be in the sidings after just a few furlongs??? You pays your money and makes your choice...
Great to have the NH season back in full swing. Chepstow 3.10 Karakoram CD winner with a promising return to action last time out when 4th. Joe Anderson has won 2 times on the horse and takes off valuable 7lb. Chepstow is the track where trainer Grace Harris has trained most of her winners. Conditions should suit.
Its a quiet day at work for a change so flicked through the Bangor runners and picked these 3x... 1:10 - Mucho Mas @ 15/2 1:45 - Chess Player @ 7/1 3:30 - Betterforeveryone @ 11/2 Thrown in a small e/w patent...
Although with delay it seems that the races are going ahead. Two bets there if they run. 15,30 Lily Glitters 4/1 17,10 Vincenzo 9/2 bet365
Sportinglife: Jockey Ben Sutton has been taken to hospital for further examination following a heavy fall on Kepy Blanc at Bangor. Sutton was riding the Philip Hobbs-trained 9-4 favourite in the Halloween Handicap Chase when the pair fell at the third fence in the extended two-mile-one-furlong contest. The yellow ‘stop race’ flag was deployed, with the race declared void by the stewards. The jockey was reported to be conscious when transferred to the ambulance, but the injuries Kepy Blanc sustained in the fall proved fatal. “Ben Sutton was transferred to Wrexham Hospital with one of our doctors where he will receive further assessment,” said clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch. “He was conscious when he was picked up and transferred to the ambulance. Sadly, the horse was euthanised.”
