In the 18:20 at Wolverhampton over an extended 1m., will take a chance with the Al Kazeem gelding, Raffles Rebel, at very long odds. Usual very tricky Wolves event, so a very modest wager. Needs a strongly-run race. Billy Garritty rides for the Philip Kirby yard. 18/1 is the general best price at time of writing. E/W the best option, of course.
Good day for Munir & Souede and their retained ride Daryl Jacob at Ayr - a treble. I wonder if any of our Irish friends can shed light on why the Crawfords sent Carnfunnock to Ayr for his hurdle debut? His bumper form was very impressive indeed and it strikes me as a quiet start. Maybe that’s just what they wanted though?
The Crawfords are a very shrewd outfit. They have a particular liking for Perth NH, where their runners always seem to do well, and, even if they don't win, their charges are usually up there giving it a go.
I get that Swanny but this is potentially the best horse they‘ve ever had and it just seemed a strange choice for his hurdles debut. Maybe the owners wanted a Monster day out at Ayr
A nice treble for the owners - I wonder whether, as the cockneys might say, they have “had it right off”?
