With a bit of extra time on my hands I've been watching a few documentary series on satellite channels. Nazi Hunters on 'Yesterday' has been quite interesting. And the Lost Treasures of Egypt ones on National Geographic.
Anybody who bought a Netflix subscription so they could see the devastating bombshells from Harry & Meghan... They saw you coming What did we get? A press conspiracy (Qanon?) Unconscious bias The Queen was really warm and welcoming Talk about over-selling a damp squib. Viewers were led to believe there would be seismic shocks. Nice touch by the Sussexes to use footage of Diana's divorce interview, knowing William has said he never wanted it to be broadcast ever again. Watered down dirty laundry in exchange for far too much
I thought H&M hot footed it to the USA to escape being in the limelight 24/7 - since being there all they’ve done is seek interviews and took part in a Netflix documentary for cash - I can smell a massive ex- royal turd !
I've been on Twitter for a few years now, never really had a problem, but since Elon Musk bought it I'm getting a lot more tweets from far right commentators. I have to keep on muting them, something has happened to the algorhythms.
Yeah. I now get regular tweets from Andrew Pierce, some guy called Tice, Farage and another know called Robert Kimbell. I only have it for updates on Dartford FC matches, and I'm considering moving elsewhere.
Beyonce https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-64371662 Got a new album out celebrating disco culture and the LGBT influence on it, fishing for pink dollars. Then she does her first live gig in 5 years... in the UAE Gets paid $24million to open a new Hotel with a 'no phones' concert that ended up all over the internet anyway. Her credibility as an LGBT Icon has taken a bit of a knock...
Continuing to watch unending viking shows. I watched nearly all of The Last Kingdom, on the recommendation of a mate - it covered a period of history which made (and could have unmade) England. Then tried Vikings, but ran out of steam with it after one season. Watched three seasons of Norsemen, but the humour gradually vanished. And my current binge is Vikings Valhalla. Really enjoyable so far, but I do sort of wonder how many more Viking series the entertainment industry can squeeze out of the history books. And for a change of pace, I saw The Menu at the weekend. I expected a sort of arty film about a failing marriage set in a restaurant. No way, it's wild. A touch unlikely at times, but a really good film. And that actress Anna Tsylor Joy from Queen's Gambit is in it, which just adds to the quality.
Watched a surprisingly interesting documentary about moss the other evening, and it was spoiled by constant loud bombastic music. Why they have to do this for documentaries these days is beyond me.
I too had noticed that - peculiar soundtracks to documentaries or nature related programmes. Probably sounds great to the younger generations. It's down to all the bright young things (millions of 'em) graduating from Uni with degrees in media studies
Continuing on that theme... I just saw a rather naughty advert on TV for an electric car. The ad featured two supermodel type girls having a snog on a tennis court. The theme being that your desire to own an electric car is akin to the impulse to have it off with another very pretty person. (impulse, electric... geddit?) Maybe a bit strong for 5pm on a Sunday afternoon. For some reason I can't recall the name of the car they were trying to sell. My mind must have been elsewhere...
I was trying to imagine what sort of loud music anyone involved in TV would think appropriate. You'd think something gentle given how little Moss gets up to over the course of a year. What was the music? Thus Spake Zarathustra?
