I’ve been boycotting the BBC longer than I’ve been boycotting TS’s regime. HIGNFY long ago ceased being funny and instead became a party political broadcast.

The left wing bias of the comedy is well known, and not unexpected when we've had a centre-right (and by degrees further right) Government for 13 years. Granted a fairly elected Government by the rules we've had in place for around 100 years, but still not representing the views of a large minority of the electorate.
Starmer and his cabinet (Diane Abbot for instance) do come in for some ridicule, but nowhere near to the same degree as their opposite numbers in power. And Starmer's pale imitation of 'new' Labour gets less stick than Corbyn and his sinister cohorts used to come in for.

But laughing at Joe Biden just because he's 80 years old was unpleasant in my view.
So he's made the occasional gaffe during speeches and nodded off a couple of times - but not recently.
If they were laughing at his politics, that's fair enough.
    Not that they would.
But mocking an elderly man, saying things like his wife puts coins over his eyes every night just in case... That isn't funny as far as I'm concerned.

    EUROVISION
Call me old-fashioned (or worse) but it's just got a bit too camp for my taste.
Also they're talking about nothing else on telly, and it's still four days away.

I'm sorry Ukraine could not host it, but I feel it's all gone a bit overboard these days.
And did it have to go to Liverpool?
Couldn't it have gone to somewhere like Newcastle or Swindon?
How is it funded? I know lots of people weren't overly happy about the amount of tax-payers' money spent on the Coronation.
Is Eurovision funded by international TV sponsors?
I know that by tradition the host nation coughs up the cost. Does that mean our taxes?
And I still think our entry this years sounds like "I sold my car to We Buy Any Car"...

    Putin shows his class :emoticon-0172-mooni
Russia's contribution to Eurovision - a missile attack last night on the home City of Ukraine's Eurovision entry.
No possible military excuse for such a petty act of spite.
That is a War Crime, pure and simple.

    The UK's entry did typically well - 25th out of 26 <laugh>
I did say our song was less catchy that the latest We Buy Any Car jingle :emoticon-0159-music

I liked the Spanish entry, actually voted for it. I also hope to sell my car to We Buy Any Car on Tuesday, so the jingle must work; that and the fact that they give a very good price, almost as much as I paid for it 6 years ago, unless they find an excuse to try and knock a few hundred off at the last minute.

I sold my father's car to them a short while after he passed away.
They gave me peanuts for it, but at the time I was not in the mood to put in more effort to get a better price.

They may well find excuses to knock down the price. One thing they counted against me was that the car didn't have two sets of keys!
My Dad was probably the fifth or sixth person to own it. What car except a brand new one ever has two sets of keys?

Over the last few weeks their valuation has gone up by £1365, to get me to sell it. I'm selling it now because I've got a replacement. I'm prepared to take a couple of hundred hit, but have 2 fobs, a service record and everything they've asked for, so I'm giving it a thorough clean inside and out, and will let you know how it goes.

Great to see The Repair Shop getting an award at The Baftas. These craftsmen and women are incredible. The standard of their work is jaw-dropping, and I particularly love watching Kirsten assemble a beautiful piece of pottery out of a pile of hardcore. Jay Blades' autobiography is well worth a read. He was a right tearaway in his youth but the boy done good.

Philip Schofield bares his soul in an interview which is beyond pitiable.

By his own confession he has lied and lied and lied and lied.
Why should we now believe one word he is saying?
He is so sorry... for himself.
    Hints that he's suicidal :emoticon-0113-sleep

    What is he doing?
In a deep hole of his own making (no pun intended) what Schofield should do is stop digging.
His career is over for now.
If he leaves well alone for a few years he'll probably get another job on a satellite TV channel somewhere.
ITV's morning show was only watched by a million people anyway. I didn't even know they had a morning show.
Last time I watched TV in the mid morning it was bearded professors in tank tops explaining quadratic equations on an Open University blackboard.

No idea what he has done or why a gay TV presenter is such an ongoing headline topic, but as the government seeks an injunction to stop the enquiry it initiated into covid from getting hold of possibly damaging information, they should consider putting Schofield into the House of Lords. He has done them no end of favours.

I must admit I was entertained today.
    And I agree with Ben Stokes;

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/66082091

I wouldn't want England to have won the match if we had to resort to that tactic to achieve it.
It's within the rules. But it is not cricket.
I know the desire to win is super-intense.
But the appeal could have been withdrawn. A split-second decision in the heat of the moment could have been reconsidered.

Fair play and sportsmanship should always prevail. Otherwise what is the point of playing.
I don't blame those MCC members from expressing their disapproval.
