Jake Brown is a very good larker, and Fanning has certainly developed physically at a rapid pace. Imagine if they both work over summer they’ll both have a look in with Rosie during pre season
I don't know whether others have seen it, but over the last week or so HDM has done 2 or 3 articles in the Academy. What I picked up on was there has been a change of how we go about the academy, even before Liam came in, though he has expanded on it. I guess we have already seen that by the number of trialists in games last season, but clearly this is how things will be going forward. With Covil and now Vaughan, they are scouring the country for good talent, which as it was mentioned there is a limit to how many players can be in the academy, I assume cost-wise, which means it is a fine balance between developing your own and bring in already partly developed players such as Covil and Vaughan. Therefore it is likely that players coming through the system will be probably thinned out a bit more aggressively, which on the plus side should push up standards, but also mean like with Snelgrove, Chadwick and others will be thinned out if the feeling is that they probably won't make the grade.
No Local lads should be given the opportunity to play for their home town club They’re here from a very young age Raise the coaching standards
They seem to be trying to do that, Meyler and unsure of his name but the Turkish coach who was head of their national team youth development. The next crop of scholars look very good, along with the young lad Jake Brown who’s just signed a pro deal. Still a good crop of young local lads at the club but yeah a lot of the recent frustration has come from prioritising trialists from other clubs over the lads we have here
Agree with the sentiment but it seems too much like wishful thinking that we could have a really successful academy based only on local kids. Surely it's about getting right "the fine balance" as per the OP?
