I never thought I would agree with anything Khan did, but I did today.

One in the knackers for the so called 'gig economy'.

    100% right decision.

BBC London news just did a report on the decision to ban Uber because of its failure to respect TFL safety rules, including not reporting crimes committed by some of its drivers.

In order to try and give the report some balance the BBC interviewed an Uber Driver live on the report, expecting him to defend the company.
Instead the driver slaughtered Uber in 30 seconds, talking about low wages and how it killed competition, and how some Uber drivers themselves had pleaded with the company to pay heed to TFL safety regulations, but that Uber had always ignored them.

A Black Cab driver was naturally happy to stick the boot in as well, but the Uber driver had already out-done him with damning criticism of Uber, which left the interviewer clearly surprised.

I’ve owed Uber £20 for around 2 years. Guess that debt it wiped.

Uber’s record on the safety of young female passengers should be enough to close them down permanently in London.

It is the ultimate irony that it was the Mayor who took the decision.

It was TFL who made the decision, although it was backed by Khan. Uber may pay their drivers sh1t wages, but they will find millions to pay top lawyers in their appeal, which IMO has a 50/50 chance of succeeding. I wouldn't ever use Uber, always minicab or black cab, whichever is handiest.

Agreed, but the Mayor pulls TfL’s strings & it is inconceivable that Uber would not have had their licence revoked without Khan’s support.
