The problem is Carrick will genuinely believe he's set it up correct after us scoring. What he doesn't seem to understand is, it would be so much more easier if he played DVB and the players in the right position.
We've had quite a bit of the ball and with the players in their natural positions would have been a lot more threatening.
You can clearly see both Rashford and Sancho are having a poor game because it's not their natural game, despite seeing so much of the ball. Sancho has scored in the last two games playing on the right ffs
Love how they keep saying how quiet Rashford and Sancho are. Which you would be, when played out of position. It's so obvious is ridiculous, switch sides ffs!!
Lingard on the break and our players hang back. Like we're trying to sit on the lead. No need, go and attack. It's better when Arsenal are pegged back.
What I don’t get is why we are always setup to play so defensively when we still concede so many goals. It’s just wasteful for creative players on the bench.
Called it before the game. It was a great game tbf even if a bit nerve-racking. I'll take the win. Much needed 3 points and close the gap on 4th.
Official. Michael Carrick leaves the club with immediate effect. Timing from the club in the announcement is a bit off. Maybe Ralf EDIT: Correction, Carrick saying it's his decision including the announcement.
Comes out 2nd half with exactly the same set up, the first sub is 60mins+ and is Lingard for Rashford Fred and Bruno stay on FFS if you are going to make changes swap the wingers over and bring Donny on for Fred (and maybe Lingard for Bruno a bit later) Anyone who has watched us play a few games would know these kind of things, i hope to **** Ralf has watched a good variety of matches so he knows what the players are actually capable of.
The workrate and closing down from the players today was nothing like we've seen all season. Call me a cynic but maybe it's because a certain someone was in the ground watching the game today.
Whatever I've said, I'll pay respect to Carrick. He resigned, probably because he knew he was going to be sacked. He's taken the decision and in doing so, has foregone a pay out. The guy has some class.
Much needed win. I had hoped rather than expected but this brought some of the traditional Utd back when the past looks like it will be dismantled. Arsenal thank goodness were flaky after being gifted a goal by the referee. Carrick’s position was really untenable once Ole was sacked. Apparently Ole discussed it with him and asked him to stay as there had been no one to train and manage the team until the new interim guy came in. So it was very much to help the club in a time of need. And when the new manager didn’t even speak to him, whatever doubts he had must have disappeared. He simply was a part of Ole’s regime and had to go to leave Rangnick and his team a clear run. Like for Ole, I had great sympathy for Carrick and his short tenure had simply been much better than anyone could have expected. He beat Villarreal and qualified top of the group. He drew away to the league leaders and CL champions who had been sweeping everything before them and lastly he beat Arsenal a top 4 contender to arrest a dreadful run at OT. Carrick, You’ve done us proud mate. Good luck in the rest of your career . Your position was untenable but you have the gratitude and thanks of this old Utd fan and supporter.
