That last but may well be the case, but it's not like this is desperation and it's very rare to be signing long term permanent solutions in January, as those players aren't often available.

If we need a short tern No.9 till summer then there could be a few stop gaps out there.

    Danny Ings even?

    Mental issue i would imagine.
Very hard to get settled again once disturbed and time, patience and understanding are the best (maybe only) way to help someone through it.

You're not enamoured by this acquisition Diego?

He's been tearing it up in the mighty Turkish league.

I'm willing to trust in Ten Hag's judgement.

Wout may cause a rout in the PL. See what I did there <diva>

He gives us something we don't have at the moment - height up front. It also gives ETH the leeway to drop Maguire and still have a target man for set pieces.

    He's a number 9 that cost nothing.

We've done it before; Henrik Larson, Odion Ighalo.
(even Lawrie Cunningham and Garth Crooks actually, if I'm allowed to count them)

We DO NOT need a Felix or Gakpo. We need a No.9 till end of season.

And then look to see who is available in summer, and for how long Toney is banned etc.

Diego's just getting arrogant that's all. Wants the big name players. Watch Ten Hag turn Wout into Ruud.

Bloody hell haven't heard that name in a while. Diego's a big fan of Hull so you could be right.

Nahh, i seen enough of them.
I just think we are lacking a genuine poacher in the box not a target man, someone who concentrates on where the ball is all the time and is first to react when the chance comes.

Remember a couple of seasons ago when I was raving about him when he was tearing it up for Wolfsburg <laugh>

I have a balanced view on this. It's obvious this aint Ten Hag's first choice. But we are going for him with Ten Hag's approval and perhaps even his request, given he's the best realistic short term option out there at the moment.

So TH must feel like he can do a job for us in getting Top 4. He's not bad and the Dutch connection may help in his understanding of what TH wants from him.

I really see it going either way. He could get a bag full of goals, or he gets 1 in 10. But he's a half decent CF and we lose nothing by having him.

But Keane is cautious about United’s progress and the challenge to turn them back into title challengers, accusing them of enjoying a “cushy” run of games.

“I'm not convinced,” Keane told ITV Sport.

Roy Keane is not convinced because the games have been “cushy”.

I never understand this line of thinking. Do you win the league by simply beating top 3 teams? We have now played 17 league games and won 11 of them, lost 4. For so long we struggled to count on winning against lower sides even at home. That was our number one problem. And considering we lost the first 2 games, that’s a bang on Top 3 form from week 3.

Is there still work to be done? Of course! But the team is certainly heading in the right direction. “I’m not convinced” is a stupid thing to say against the clear improvement made in the last few months. Even if we lose the next two league matches, this team is showing great signs of a shift into the modern age.

That was said by Keane before kick off in the FA Cup match. He was just saying we will know much more about the progress we've made after the games against City and Arsenal.

I get that too. But I don’t think anyone should class any of the games won “cushy games”. There is nothing easy about the league. We see that week in, week out.

Where does the cushy run start and end?

Does it include us beating Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs, or not?

We struggled to beat Newcastle when we really should have, beyond that we've clearly been improving week on week from the start of the season, when we had an actual cushy start v Brighton and Brentford and lost both.

His comment is nonsense, he just can't help himself after being proved irrefutably and incontravertably 100% wrong on his Ronaldo stance.

We got hammered by City and play them this weekend, that will indeed be a defining match. Everything else is just bollocks, including when we play Arsenal having already been the only team this season to hammer them.
