A young player, new arrival, didn't really receive the right development and coaching at ours tbf.

He'll probably flourish at Leeds under Bielsa. Other factors like their more expansive attacking play and opposition defences not sitting back against them like they do us, will also benefit him.

Yet puts far more effort in for less money then the likes of Martial.

    Not foreign enough I guess.

The raw materials are there, with a decent coach he'll be a very good player. Would have learned from Ronaldo, whereas Martial will just sulk.

    Mistake.

Not if it means we can use the money to bolster our midfield. Can you honestly envisage a game where James would be on the team sheet once we have Ronaldo and Rashford available ??

However, Dan James is 23 while Ronaldo is not far short of 37, so I think he had time on his side.
I don't see why he couldn't stay in the squad while we have the likes of Martial allowed to stink the place out.

Who is this midfielder you speak of?

We’ve got lots of midfielders but the one we need is a high quality defensive one like Keane, who can have the discipline and skill to protect attacks from the midfield. The Wolves midfield ran riot on Sunday. Fred really didn’t do himself any favours.

Yep. The high tempo counterattacking style of Leeds will suit him. That he didn’t get the right coaching is pure speculation IMO.

Amazing story of Willian terminating his 240k a week Arsenal contract with still 2 years to run. Basically foregoing £20.5m. Is he that rich? I wonder whether he might regret this gesture in the future.

Getting out of Arsenal is probably worth the price. Have you seen the instagram message from Maitland Niles?

On what planet was at peak Roy Keane ever a defensive midfielder?

    Absolute nonsense.

You'll be saying Bryan Robson was a defensive midfielder next.

Who does Neves play instead of?

I'm not saying he's not ok, but is he much better than McTominay or Van De Beek for instance? As in, worth spending money on.

We do need an actual defensive type (Keane was box to box), but Neves isn't that, surely.

Nididi would be good. Bissouma at Brighton looks fairly excellent to be fair.

We're not just going to sign either tomorrow though?

Better than Fred, so that's an upgrade

I know we've all spoken about Declan Rice, but how about his partner in crime Soucek?

There's fck all chance of us signing him or anyone for the defensive midfielder role in this transfer window tbh, but I'm surprised nobody mentions him. I think he's quality.

Things must be that bad for Martial for him to be compared to James.

I like James, but he offers very little when he plays for us. Leeds will suit his game and style. I’ve always thought that Martial is more useful on the left than as a focal striker. He is also without a doubt a better player when compared to James.

Mark my words, Van De Beek will be gone in January. Diallo probably a year later.

In his very short appearances Donny has looked way below the energy or strength needed for this league (****ing fast feet though in tight situations) so would probably be better suited to Spain.
What makes you think Diallo will fail?

Diallo won't fail, nor will Van De Beek.

We seem to be good at bringing through academy players.

We're just not very good at developing young talent that comes in to the side.

We'll just wait until the likes of Spurs or Southampton or Leicester do that and then pay 10 x the fee to buy them.

During his time, the concept of the defensive midfielder didn’t even exist!!

He was the central midfielder who spent lots of time going from box to box and involved in attacks , but no doubt in my mind when the youngsters like Scholes, Giggs and Beckham joined him in the midfield, he was the most defensive minded of the lot. He took a lot of the responsibility of helping the defence by tackling the opposition players and breaking up their attacks.
