Competition - FIFA World Cup Finals
    Tournament Stage - Group B
    Date - Monday, 21 November 2022
    Kick off - 19:00
Venue - Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Qatar

On 19 June 1958 in Gothenburg - when yours truly was nearly 6 months old - Wales played its last FIFA World Cup Finals Stage match, a 0-1 defeat to Brazil in the Quarter Finals, when a certain young teenage player called Pele was the scorer.

So, after a wait of 64 years and 5 months, Wales will finally play its next Tournament Finals match, with the USA the opponents.

The last time the teams met was in November 2020 in a match played at an empty Liberty Stadium in Swansea – empty due to Covid restrictions - when the game ended 0-0.

It was also memorable because it marked the first time in the USA team’s 100+ year history that two players under the age of 18 started the same match for the USMNT - Gio Reyna and Yunus Musah were both aged 17.

Additionally, I believe it was the first match with Rob Page in charge of the Welsh team - albeit a ‘second-string’ selection ahead of two Nations League matches the following week.

Turning to Monday, neither side will want to lose the opening fixture and I’m going for a cagey 0-0 draw.

Hope I’m wrong and Wales win 2-0 <cheers>

Thanks Taff. Extremely difficult to call, it has all the markings of a cagey opening game so I won't be surprised if it ends 1-1.

I don't know. England were planning to.

Under normal circumstances I'd be against taking the knee and whatnot, totally unecessary. But with this evil regime and FIFA bending over backward to take it from them I'm for all of it, to make the point.

Interestingly, based on FIFA world rankings this is the toughest group at the World Cup.

    England 5, USA 16, Wales 19 and Iran 20.

The question is: who have USA and Iran played to get those rankings? Not sure how FIFA rankings are calculated.

    Cannot wait !!!!
Never thought I'd get to see Wales in a World Cup.

Bricking it, but I'm hoping we can get a win any way possible. I'm more concerned about the Iran game really - many in the media say Iran tend to sit back/park the bus a lot. I feel we struggle against sides that do that as we're not quite clever enough to break them down.

I'll take 1-0 tonight against the USA but a bigger win would be good in avoiding any heart attacks.

    C'MON CYMRU !!!

Well Iran look as bad as, if not worse than Qatar and that's saying something. Easy stroll for England.
