They are on a bit of a run in form currently and we aren't. Lets join in with all the doom merchants who still think we will be relegated this season and go for a Burton massacre. The reality is we would be hard pressed even for Argyle to get relegated with 52 points as 3 clubs already down there at the bottom would have to turn their season around dramatically for that to happen. That is win every game pretty much and if you look at who most of them have to play it would be miraculous.

I'm not going for any result this time. I will leave it to the fates.

Well I feel confident. I beat Burton 2-6 on the X-Box earlier this week with a hat-trick from Danny Mayor, including a 20 yard cannon-ball. That's obviously so true to life that it must be a portent.

Danny Mayor scored a hat-trick.....that's fantasy football if I've ever heard it....he can't score three goals in a season....maybe running up three blind alley's every match might be more correct......<whistle>......

On the 23rd of February Burton was bottom of the league...17pts behind Argyle.

Today.....Burton are ONE place and ONE point behind us....and therefore tomorrow afternoon they could be 2pts in front of us.

If form is anything to go by....then it ain't us playing well.

There is no relevance where Burton finish in comparison to us. There needs to be a dramatic turn around of nearly all the clubs below us for it to have any sort of disaster consequences. Look at the run in they have and tell me where they are suddenly going to get all of these results from at the same time.

Check the league table tonight. Northampton played 42 with 4 to go are 12 points behind with a -12 goal difference. Rochdale and Swindon cannot catch Argyle if they both lose just one game. I rest my case and over to the gloom merchants.

My comments are solely relating to Burton v Argyle and how their fortunes have been so different since 23/02/2021.....and how Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has turned Burton's performance around since taking over at the beginning of the year....they were adrift at the bottom and looked no hopers to avoid relegation....17pts below Argyle....and now only 1pt different...........all your comments about the other clubs below us has no bearing on what I was saying.....we have enough in hand to be alright......all I was saying was on form since the end of February....Burton are the likely winners....but this Covid dominated season as we've all found is nearly impossible to predict.

    3:5:2 then. Or something.

One notable thing about Burton on Trent is that it's very smelly. Breweries and a (the) Marmite factory.

Ropey start from Argyle but have got a bit of a grip as it's gone on.

Guy Branston is enjoying showing off his new coaching knowledge isn't he? Still, he's right about a few things. Opoku isn't for us and neither is Lewis.

    0-0...H/T

Starting pressure from Burton looked ominous....but Argyle held on.

Watts get a stupid booking... kicks ball over into stand area when ball was already out of play...if he now gets a legitimate booking he'll be off.

To much commentating chat and not enough concentrating on what is going on....Opoku getting a lot of grief from commentator.

    1-1...F/T........Broom...90+3 mins..........Hardie...69 mins.

Broom runs past static Argyle defender to equalize.

Burton didn't look like scoring all game....Hardie scores great over the keeper lob to take the lead against the run of play.....deserves MOTM for his effort.

So let's get it said. Yes, we'd have all taken a draw at kick off. Yes, a draw was probably a fair result.

    However.

To throw it away with 2 minutes to go is galling, especially when it was a defensive error from Opoku. Why did he need to get so close to that melee when there was already an Argyle player there? In doing so, he let the runner get away and kissed goodbye to 2 points.

Plus points were a good performance and a great finish for the goal from Hardie and another good game from Aimson. We're mathematically safe now but it would be dispiriting if we can't get at least one more win this season. We had this one and threw it away.

    When is a throw-in legal ?

    1.....Foot behind the line ?

    2....Foot on the line ?

    3.....Foot over the line ?

Burton's long throw specialist did all three....and never any response from linesman/assistant referee.....why are they not making the players play to the rules ?

What are the rules regarding throw-ins ?

1.....Take it from the correct spot.

2.....Or take it as far up field as you can sneak it....walk up the touchline as far as you can...and not take it and then sneak up a bit further again.

When is a foul a foul.

1.....When a player is physically bundled over....or kicked etc.

2.....Or when a player falls to the floor pretending to be fouled and cons the Ref.

    We saw the lot today.

Maybe some of it isn't the players conning the Ref but the Ref being totally inconsistent in what he gives. Todays Ref was a classic example of not doing the same thing twice. The example given above of Watts getting booked for kicking the ball away. Burton players kicked the ball away, carried the ball away and generally did a lot of things similar. They got one telling off but no cards for it. It wasn't the only example of inconsistency. I thought the Ref today was very poor.

So much for Argyle getting a spanking today. I thought we were unlucky at the end and deserved all of the points. Yet another run into the box not being tracked on the right side of the player. Basic mistakes we can't stop making. I thought the Commentator was spot on today with some of his observations. The good thing is we won't have the same defence next season given most of them will be gone. Maybe Lowe will learn his lessons as well this time and get a couple of half generals in.

We aren't quite mathematically safe just yet but as near as damn it. Tuesday night might just do it.

Had Mayor been told yesterday not to dribble....he at times seemed to be on the verge...but didn't.

I would find it hard to understand it... if Lowe had told him not to dribble....if that was the case...then why play him...he has no other value.

Co-Commentator yesterday was Guy Branston....did he enjoy commentating on Argyle's defence....especially Jerome Opoku's positioning at times....you felt he was looking for a job..

I'll tell you something else I noticed yesterday that the ref didn't, or didn't want to. That's the number of times our players were baulked when trying to run into attacking positions or back to defend. I know it happens in every game but this looked orchestrated. You don't have to be on the ball to be obstructed. It's cynical and ruins the game. It should have been stamped on.

Looking at the table, you are right. Rochdale can still catch us as they've only played 41 games. They've got Blackpool at home on Tuesday. Prior to yesterday, Blackpool had taken 16 points from their last 6 away games and they beat Sunderland at home yesterday. I'll say no more.
